4 weeks in and back from the detailers

4 weeks and 500 miles in. Just picked it up from detailers so have managed to take some better pics.

Had paint protection film applied to the front end and full gtechniq paint protection pack applied so its currently (well at least until it rains!) looking good.

Very pleased with the car. Fantastic to drive. Ascari Blue is an interesting color which seems to change a fair bit depending on the light.

Film was done at AutoFx at their premises in Bedfordshire not far from junction 14 on the M1 and then a company called Warman detailing applied the Gtecniq at the same place.

Was just easier to get it all done at once at the same place

Both did a good job. Film is great and difficult to tell it is actually on the car unless you look closely

I wanted the film in mine but was quoted 1800 plus vat for bumper, bonnet and wings.
Same place will wrap the whole car a different colour for that so I Decided not to bother.

Crazy. Must be expensive film compared to normal Avery Dennis on / 3m vinyl.

I had a new car detail and Gtechniq crystal serum with Exo applied to my car for £900 and at the same time had my front bumper, bonnet, wings, grille, headlights, mirrors, side flaps all wrapped with PPF for an extra £750. He used a combination of the 3M and suntek films as one is thicker so suited better for the largely flat bonnet and the thinner one is more suited to the curvaceous bumper.

So what actually happens when a stone hits the paintwork now? Does it leave a mark? Or is it "guaranteed" not to chip?

There's no guarantee against chips as they can hit at any speed and be of any size. The film is self healing so any swirl marks disappear when it gets warm.
My bumper and wings are chip free. My bumper has 1 chip I think. Something hit it and ripped the film but I can't tell if it is just ripped or if it caught the paint below. I suspect the paint is damaged too. My roof which I didn't protect has at least 6 stone chips so I've no doubt that my bumper and bonnet would be riddled by now if they didn't have the film.

It is guaranteed for 5 years against peeling and other defects though.

Looks great, you don't see many in Ascari. Good to be different.

Deep Impact Detailing and Bodyguard UK. They both work out of the same unit so you can have a detail and wrap at the same time.

Same place is used by Wayne Simpson (rs4tdi) and Plush.
