MMI Source Volume Levels
MMI Source Volume Levels
Do any of you clever clogs know how to adjust the source levels on the MMI? I can't find an option for it and it's something that has been pretty much standard on car stereos for years.
My radio is much louder than the USB drives or SD cards so when I listening to some tunes at a decent volume then a traffic announcement comes on it nearly blows my ear drums out. Pretty sure I adjusted the announcement and other volume levels to be low but the TAs still seem much louder than the other sources.
So can I turn the radio down with regards to the other sources?

Re: MMI Source Volume Levels
When a TA comes on just adjust the volume down. Car remembers it for next time.

I tried that. It still comes back on loud.
Re: MMI Source Volume Levels
Just been playing with it and i think part of the problem is that the traffic announcement volume doesn't have any relationship to the current volume level that you are listening to. So if you set the TA volume at mid point and when the announcement is made you have the volume very quite then it will be a sudden increase in volume. If however you are on the motorway and have the volume quite loud then the TA will be inaudible and have to be turned up.
I'd prefer it if the TA was always -6bd of the main volume rather than have it's own unrelated volume. However, I still think that when I turn it down then it comes on again a bit later it has got louder again (I'll confirm this tonight as mayne I'm just getting old).

I'm sure i've seen an input volume on the settings somewhere. I'll dig it out..

Thanks Knobby.
I had a TA on the way home. Came on at about 40 volume (about the same as I was listening to music at). I turned the TA down to 20. Next announcement came and it was back at 40ish again. Looked a the volume setting for TA and it was on max!! Maybe I need to reset the MMI.

I have a similar problem mike. When I switch from aux to radio, radio is much louder, almost as if the aux volume is set much lower than the radio.
Re: MMI Source Volume Levels
Radio always seem louder than other sources. 25 years ago my Sony head unit had the same problem but I could adjust the levels to match. I'd expect to do the same now with my modern car.
