Question about Engine sound setting

Working out if I have an issue with my exhaust - an RS6 Perf, in Individual drive select mode with Engine Sound set to Dynamic, when sitting at lights in gear and you flick back the gear stick to S mode, does the exhaust sound get noticeably louder or just the same as Individual/Engine Sound/Dynamic in D mode?

When you put the gear selector back into S mode, the sports exhaust valves should open and there should be a noticeable increase in exhaust noise regardless of engine sound setting, even at idle. The best way to tell though is during driving in S mode as when coming off the throttle and on down shifts, you should get some naughty noises coming from the exhaust!!

Now, I have my valves disconnected to trying to remember back a year but this is my recollection:
If you are in dynamic the valves whould be open regardless of whether you are in D or S.
However, when you start the car in dynamic mode the car always starts in D with the vavles closed. If you pull the gear lever to put it into S then the vavles open but if you pull the lever again to go back inot D they will close again. Cycle through the Drive Select modes back round to Dynamic and the vavles should remain open regardless of D or S (until you turn the engine off and start it again). I imagine the same is true for Individual setting.
Give it a go and try.
However, the Sport exhaust is still so quiet even with the vavles open I don't know why you don't just disconnect the valves and leave them permanently open.

I did that on mine prior to me swapping it out with Milltek!! It will throw up a fault code, or rather it did with mine - engine management light will come on, relating to exhaust baffles!! just ignore the yellow light and enjoy the additional noise, though you WILL want a Milltek when you hear one......

Mine didn't show a fault on the dash but it did show up when I plugged a laptop in. I bought the milltek valve delete modules for £45 And that cancels the errors.
Deleting the front and centre resonators for £360 gives a close to milltek sound.

I would agree with Mike with regard to sound for just over £300 it's a no brainer. I kept the valve option as it's quite nice to just cruise with the valves closed. Open in sport is LOL makes people jump when you lift off

I followed Mike's advice and its by far and away a great mod for peanuts in comparison to the cost of a miltek etc.

In my experience if set exhaust in individual sections to dynamic you won't get bangs and pops when u drive with shifting paddles, if you choose dynamic in a main menu you get pops and bangs even not using shifts pads

I get pops and bangs regardless of drive select mode. If gearbox is in S or M I get pops and bangs. If it is in D no pops and bangs.
The drive select mode changes the exhaust valves so makes it louder or quieter but doesn't affect the pops and bangs, only the gear box mode (yes I'm aware selecting Dynamic puts the gear box into S but if you pull the gear lever you go into D but are still in dynamic mode).

Yea that true Mike. But don't forget it works a lot better with a Miltek and ABT or MTM tuning box.
