Looking at a few C7's as stated previously. I'd ruled out pre FL ones but getting the right spec and car is hit and miss (HUD and ACC plus dynamic pack and sunroof). Started looking at pre FL's and test drove this one:

Anyone know this car? Doesn't have sport exhaust which isn't too much of an issue as I'd look to getting a Milltek on there. Great ride and spec and a lot cheaper than my £65k budget.

Low mileage plus Milltek and Stage 2 MRC already done. Looks an absolute beast. Anyone know it?

I wouldn't personally spend 60k on a pre FL, they look dated and when coming to sell unless priced accordingly a FL will always be more desirable.

Why not but the cheapest FL @ £59995 on AT and do what you want with the 5k?

Indeed. There are four or five under 62k on Autotrader. Two or three have pan roof, they are not all base spec cars

Easiest way to search for 'just' facelifts is to set the CO2 limit to 225. This excludes all the pre facelifts

That black pre facelift above has been discussed in here before. Note that it has all black external trims which were not available in the UK other than part black trims that came with the carbon pack (that this car doesn't have). Possible they are wrapped or sprayed or changed for genuine black items of course. If it was just the front or rear I'd suspect it had been in a crash but as it is all the trim then it is less suspiscious.

I was in same position, when I was looking FL cars were all 65k for the colours i wanted - which was more important than any spec for me.

I bought a pre FL on colour and condition over spec.

Disagree that they look "dated".

I absolutely didn't want red, silver or grey so that ruled alot out straight away for me.

The black one was on my list had a local car not turned up.

I'm going stage 2 anyway and it just looks awesome...

The black MRC one sold last night-was on my way to view it off spec but luckily called them beforehand so wasn't a wasted trip. I would have had a few questions for them including how it can still have an Audi warranty with a Stage 2 map etc.
It does look like a monster of a car and the all black look really nails the 'get out of my way' appearance. Was looking forward to driving a tuned C7 after test driving the silver one yesterday

I think the pre fl front lights actually make the front of the car look very imposing. I'm not saying the fl cars don't by the way.

If its the black one at Bedford Audi I've seen it. Poverty spec hence it being so cheap for a FL. The owner traded it in for an SQ5 apparently. Bizarre.

Disagree with Pre FL cars looking dated.. I've looked in detail at the spot the difference pictures to try and tell if a car is a FL or not and its tricky.. I know the new lights are a giveaway but what else?

Lights are the main clue as far as I know, the rest was all internal. The PE added some extra external styling. I also disagree on the 'dated' view although the FL ones do add more handy bits like the double glazing and the mapping in the DIS. Apart from that the big thing is a 2 - 3 years down the line when I'm looking to sell onto the Next Big Thing (maybe the C8 who knows) and the residual values of the pre FL to the FL models.

The grille is a big give away, much more angular on the facelift especially around the bottom corners.

The main central MMI screen also had a fairly major upgrade so graphics are better.

As far as externals go, the bumpers were also revised.

When the pre facelift cars have their DRLs on they look really mean, but they look dated in comparison when the LED headlights are on.

The bumper had to change shape for the angular grille, but aside from that any other bumper change is hard to spot.
