Fixing front number plate - options?

Hi,
I've had a quick search and there seem to be 4 options -
1/ Cut down the old holder - I assume given the screw fixings this is just a case of trimming of the sides. Not keen on this tbh. Might look a bit scruffy
2/ new holder, smaller, not sure how to get These or if my plate would fit - any companies do them with various sizes?
3/ attach by other methods - I'm struggling to see how Velcro / pads would work as there are no flat surfaces and this part behind the grill is solid so you can't secure round the back
4/ get a matching screw thread that secures the holder but needs to reach to sunken thread and screw the plate straight on
I'd prefer to do option 4 but not sure if hardware is available or what is behind the grill if screws are too long!

I went with option 1 - I cut the ends off mine to keep the original screws in place....
Originally looked at options 3, but encountered the same issues as you!!

I chose option 1 and cut a section off both ends very carefully using a fine toothed saw then glued the edges back together, and with a little help from some gaffa tape, which is now hidden under the plate, it looks acceptable in my opinion.

Thanks guys.
I was going to cut the ends of, take a segment out at either end and the glue the end s back on to main piece.
I didn't think the lugs that go in the grill would be missed given the centre one would still be there and the screws do the main job of Fastening it to the grill.
The cut has to be v accurate though although I think it would sand some for a better fit

Yep - no lugs and the screws do the job perfect. I bought a new blade and just hoped for the best !

Blade for a hacksaw? Fine blade for plastic / wood?
Everything I hacksaw tends to end up "s" shaped

Thanks Mike. I've read that thread.
Doesn't really help me understand how to fix it without the mount.
And the part for the smaller holder is too small for my plate I think.

If your plate is 5 numbers/letters or less it will fit the smaller plate holder it takes a 360mm x 110mm plate which is standard uk height but reduced width

Thanks - where are these purchased from? OEM or free market options?
Was reluctant to hack the original so just stuck the plate on the existing holder for the moment.

My plate is my signature so 6 digits.
Will measure plate later to be sure of size

Yours will fit on a 360mm plate. I just measured mine. If you stick to the normal size letters numbers each one is roughly 50mm. I have to Phone Demon plates as they don't show that size plate on their website as it's not an official size according to the very boring number plate rules

Mine is 410mm, but I could trim it down at the edges to be 360mm
Just need the mounting bracket
