Collected RS - first thoughts

Merlin looks much better in person and does not photograph well.
Silver optics are growing on me - but need to go.
"Sports" exhaust - waaaay too quiet
Whilst weight isn't that much different to my GTR - feels a lot bigger handling wise.
Car is stunning inside and out - as new.
Not many options - but still too much to fiddle with! :-)
Gear box is slick
Headlights are misty - read it's normal. Panic overted (I think)
Stage 1 power is nice. It's got ooodles of low down grunt so feels quicker than I expected. (GTr made 730lbs at 3,700 rpm - so peak torque was a bit more delayed)
JBS are doing power run Thursday to see stage 1 power for their site. Then we'll be doing same at stage 2 and 3. Interesting to see where it ends up. Owner says 730-40 for stage 3 on their dyno..
Stage 3 - next month (downpipes, non res miltek)

Needs lowering - im torn between h&r 20mm or kw adjustables.
40mm might be a bit low for me so 30mm on kw seems a nice compromise but they are expensive in comparison.
Would appreciate some side / front shots of cars and what they are sat on :-) thanks in advance...

I'm running more errands and non essential visits to Tesco for the missis than I ever have before. Any excuse to get out and drive the long way home via a few dual carriageways.

It is a great car. This was supposed to be a stop gap until a nice 1200hp GTr came up. I think it will be with me a while once the 750 pack is on..

It looks great in the flesh and I can honestly say it's unmarked inside and out. No marks on the seats or the piano black inserts/ door handles etc. No visible chips at the front.
Think I'm going in for a clear film but need to check that it won't make the car look different shades of merlin once applied.

It's less than 4k miles but just over 2 years old.
Hence condition wise I'm Very pleased in that respect - as close to a brand new car as I've ever been

Congratulations, lovely colour. I'm getting 20MM H&Rs fitted tomorrow so will post up pics of before and after as soon as I can.

I have the 40mm springs and the front sits much lower than the rear. I noticed some cars on the same springs sir level and some are the same as mine. Looking back it was not level to start with but not really noticeable until it was lowered. My front scrubs with 40mm springs and no spacers.
So take a good look at whether yours is level. If it isn't then the KW might be the better option.
In terms of it feeling big, there are 2 things to note;
You are probably travelling a lot faster than you think so this makes it feel like it is struggling to go round bends. Approach the bends at normal speed and it feels less mahoosive.
Secondly, after lowering and 4 wheel aligning my car it transformed the handling; felt much lighter and easy to throw around with much better turn in. Updated ARB will probably work really well too.

Thanks Mike. I haven't thrown it about yet but just the feel of the car more than anything. I didn't expect it to be as pointy as the Nissan, it isn't but it's still v capable.
Springs will tighten it up further.
Think max you can go is 30mm on the KW and they are 750 quid! So + or - 1cm over the H&R but a decent price hike...no doubt they will be quality items.

Stage 3 in the Audi (VAG) world is turbo upgrade, it's nothing like GTR stage numbers where they add a stage for each modification you put on.

A Stage 2 RS6 is the equivalent of a stage 4.25 in the GTR world. (Everything upto the point where hybrid/turbo is needed)

Stage 1 - Software
Stage 2 - Software + bolt on hardware (Exhaust/Intercooler/Intake)
Stage 3 - Hybrid turbo (Maybe Engine and Gearbox upgrades)
Stage 4 - Big Turbo (Definite Engine and Gearbox upgrades)

Certainly this is the way the big VAG tuners in the UK (MRC/Revo/APR etc) market their software upgrades. With some cars where fuelling is a limiting factor for Stage 2, they add a fuel pump in (possibly injectors) and brand it a Stage 2+

Sorry to be pedantic there, its just a Stage 3 RS6 to those in the Audi world (In the UK sector) means a hybrid/big turbo possibly built car.

Litchfield and their crazy GTR Stage numbers you see confusing everyone else, the VAG world keeps it simple ;)

And a Stage 2 RS6 (730-750) can run down the 1/4 in 10.6, similar to the times the later MY12+ GTR cars are running with Stage 4.25. I have found Audi conservative with their acceleration figures and Nissan optimistic. There's not a hope in hell a standard GTR car does 2.7sec 0-60 and the RS6 smashes its quoted 0-62 time by around half a second.

Lovely car and lovely colour. I agree, lose the silver bits and turn them black

Thanks guys - agree Leo.
Gtr optimistic but mine was a 10 dead car and trapping at 137, so pretty quick and a bit lairy tbh in anything but perfect conditions.
750 should be more than enough but I'd be willing to go genuine stage 3 if she is a long termed...
Nissan was Awesome from a dig in 2nd. Audi won't be far behind at stage 2 ;-)

One thing I'm struggling with is grabbing for gears and the paddles not being there! Will get used to them in the wheel but I haven't yet!

Tbh - I never associated stage tuning with VAG until this car.
I've had a MTM 460 Rs4 and a MRC 500 RS4 and a TTS V8 RS4 - staged was never mentioned back in those days. ;-)
