Testing the water... possible sale

Post by drgav2005 » Tue Feb 07, 2017 7:48 pm

Hi folks,

I am considering selling my RS6. It is an utterly amazing car but I've realised it is way, way more than I need at this point in time. So I'm testing the water to see how much (roughly) this is worth in today's market...

Audi RS6 Avant 560PS - registered on 5th March 2016 (so 16 plate). Spotless inside and out as you would expect.
Sepang Blue, pearl effect
Black Valcona leather honeycomb-quilted design with rock grey stitching

In addition to the standard items on the car, it has an *extensive* set of toys...

Advanced key with electric hands-free boot opening system (£750)
Assistance pack including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop and go, Audi side assist and Audi active lane assist with pre-sense plus (£2100)
Audi Connect and Audi phone box (£750)
Door mirror housing - gloss black (£0)
Electric panoramic glass sunroof (£1250)
Gloss black styling package including air intake duct with quattro logo (£980)
Head up display (£1240)
Heated front / rear seats (£340)
Parking pack advanced (£1310)
Privacy glass (£390)
21" x 9.5J 5-twin-spoke design black gloss alloy wheels with 285/30 R21 tyres (£2000) - still round :D
additional set of OEM 21" x 9.5J 5-twin-spoke design alloy wheels (silver) with 285/30 R21 winter tyres - currently fitted to car
Rear side airbags (£375)
Speed limit display (£250)
3-spoke leather multi-function Sports steering wheen - heated (£200)
Tow bar - manual swivel (£825)

All in a Total on the road list price of £91845, excluding additional set of 21" OEM alloys with winter tyres!

The car has been meticulously maintained - hand washed every week. Car was prepped by Gordon at Defined Details in Glasgow and a ceramic coating applied over the paintwork to provide amazing sheen and protection. So far, I've covered fewer than 7900 miles. No sports exhaust, but most folk on the forum who have had this tend to upgrade to 3rd party so I didn't bother ordering. Decided to stick with air suspension so that I could spec the towball (although in reality I've never used it!!!).
Car is coming up for its first oil service in the next 30 days or so, so this would be done prior to sale if the numbers make sense and I push ahead.

Sudden dawn of realisation that I was driving the young 'uns golf more often than not when nipping out to shops or taking dogs for muddy runs down the woods (they're going nowhere near the inside of the car!) and that the RS6 was sitting in the garage.

If anyone is interested, drop me a private mail. No finance outstanding on the car.

Its a beautiful machine..

Doesn't sound like its a fire sale, just perhaps the sensible side of your brain kicking in..

My suggestion, keep it a couple more years and it'll likely still be worth 50 or so. Then the hit wont feel so bad and you'll have another few years of memorable moments.

Testing the water... possible sale

Had mine valued yesterday as a trade in with a very similar spec (even down to the colours) and similar mileage and it was just shy of £59k so as doodle said low £60s for private.

Wow !!! Under a year old and a potential hit of £30k. I'd just put the dogs in it and enjoy it

Only if you actually paid list. But it's still a big lump to loose in a year even with discount.

I think my dealer offered me around £62k for mine recently without seeing it; and one year old now.

Many thanks for the replies and advice guys!

High 50's or low 60's is too much of a hit to take on the car after 11 months. I may well try and sell it privately, the ads on Pistonheads and Autotrader seem to be considerably higher than that for a 2016 ((16) plate car with lesser spec and I may get lucky with a buyer. If it doesn't sell, then dammit... I'll just have to put the dogs in the back of it, chill out and enjoy it for the next couple of years!

Bang on the mark, considering you''ll get £15k off a new RS6, the prices the dealers on the likes of Pistonheads are asking is just fantasy league stuff.

I thought the RS6 was bad for depreciation but my friend bought a year old M5 and that had lost almost £40k :bash:

I think once production stops on the RS6 it'll hold well till the C8 comes out, and the price of that new may well help residuals of the C7 etc.

I had a GT-R for 3 years and lost less than £20k, Nissan kept pumping the price up every year so residuals of older models remained strong. I sold it to a friend and he kept it for a year and only lost £1k. I'd have another in a shot if I didn't have a 1 year old and another on the way.

It will do the exact opposite if the same happens as B8 production ending - the factory building cars and forcing stock cars onto dealers that don't have buyers. As per previous posts, pre-reg and unreg B8s with options were going for 45k. Previously, you couldn't even buy a new one with zero options for 45k - even with the finance contribution. Immediately devalued 2014 '14' and '64' plates etc

In laws picked up an unregistered Nogaro Edition for a song as you pointed out, but can't the same happening with the C7s, some may take a punt and order stock on the off chance of sales during the gap between C7 to C8.
