The radar/camera would think the car was going to crash and it would go into lock down and then perform an emergency stop. As a driver you have no way of over-riding the system.
As I stated in the other thread and posted a photo of my MMI, I'm pretty sure the crash mitigation you are talking about is the Braking Guard that comes only with the Assistance Package. And my MMI has an option under the Braking Guard heading called System which I can turn on an off. Just thought I'd reitterate in case anyone else reading this finds their car carrying out emergency braking for no reason then to look in their menu and see if they have this option and try turning it off.

I assume whne it happened to you, you got the brake guard warning on the dash? Just wondering if it was the brake guard activating or the brake assist coming on.
The brake guard was turned off in all instances. The dash warning chime/light came on and instantly the car carried out an emergency stop. The car went to the dealer to have this checked out after the first time. The dealer could not find a fault code or could tell if the system had been activated. The Master Tech told me that for both front and rear systems it was impossible to tell if they were working properly until the car has had an accident. He said that this was known at the Audi factory and was a grey area in diagnostics. We also established that no fault codes are provided by this system.

Regardless of this the car had/has 23 other faults for which I only know of 1 that has been fixed (DRCs) and that is a temporary fix as Audi has stated to me that the operating noise (knocking) will never be entirely eradicated. They have stated that whilst the modified struts will quieten the noise, the knocking will come back once the struts have bedded in.

Safety related issues apart from the brake guard/brake assist/crash mitigation failure are: headlight beam assist, parking sensors, speed display, park assist and complete brake failure. No safety report was ever produced (automatically carried out by the dealer if there is a breach of vehicle safety, as stipulated by Audi's working practices). This was queried by Audi UK at the time and in my ownership, never retrospectively carried out.

Come on guys, is anyone going to buy it? Apparently Reading are going to give me some money when it is sold. Out of the goodness of their own hearts they feel bad for me and will give me back any profit they make on it, apparently. It's a bit like the track day and the full tank of fuel that I was promised by the lovely sales manager...........can you call an ambulance I seem to have run out of breath.

That cannot be true. Any profit?! Get it in writing. Then forward this to Audi UK, it is deplorable business practice.

I have it in writing about the full tank of fuel and track day. Track day 18 months and waiting....fuel 13 months and waiting. I have tried to get the offer of profit return in writing but to no avail, do have several voice clips though. As to Audi UK....don't get me started......they are the ones who dumped me into this mess in the first place and then ran away.

Do we have a buyer? Not being advertised anymore. Perhaps it is straight to auction, keep lookout everyone. RS6s are great cars but not this one.

If they have not rectified the "lockdown" fault and god forbid someone is seriously injured or even killed in an accident as a result of this. I would say Audi are liable as the problem has been notified to them and they have failed to address the issue. They are playing with fire !!

I am not here to defend any dealer however for balance I will say that they conducted themselves quite well on the recent buckled wheel issue. They did what Audi told them to (try and straighten the wheels) and provided a loan car at their cost. When they got a puncture and had to replace all four tyres they did so at their expense and without complaining. They even allowed me to pay a small extra and have the more expensive MPSS fitted.

I am shocked that your car was put on the forecourt without some serious attention. Audi and ReadingAudi are putting themselves at a great risk here. If the car is sold and does the same thing again (with or without a potentially serious accident) means they will be in trouble. Knowingly selling a car with a potentially lethal defect means a BIG settlement if it goes off and is discovered to have been there at sale time and not disclosed. I almost hope it does but without personal pain for anyone.

Just stumbled across RF65 WTE on Autotrader > Oscar Goldman Audi. Was checking stealer prices for nearly new PE's.

I've sent an email to Oscar Goldman directing them to this thread. . Thought that it was the right thing to do. Wouldn't want to know that some innocent people buying that car could get hurt or even killed.
