Front discs & pads...

Car in for a service and Audi have just informed me the front discs & pads are 85% worn. They have quoted £1320, does this sound reasonable? What prices have other people had?

That's including fitting. MRC quoted £1175, so I didn't think £1320 from Audi was that bad?!

I got a complete set of 4 discs, pads and sensors for £1195 from Crewe Audi last summer. Sitting in a cupboard at home - didn't need them but too good a deal to refuse.

Not far behind you so will be fitting mine soon. Try Crewe - they advertised mine on eBay where they have a
Shop.

One other thing - I would run them till the warning light comes on. You then have at least 500 miles to get them replaced and you might be surprised how long your "85% worn" pads last

. And I struggle to believe that the discs wear at the same rate as the pads, but best to change them both together. if you have a good indy locally they will fit for a lot less if you can discounted parts from Crewe or others - and parts warranty still applies.

Mark, exactly what I was thinking. I have told them not to replace and I will run them for a while longer, and source parts cheaper in the meantime. Cheers for advice..

You can buy a plastic guage on ebay for £7.99 to measure your pads.

Does anyone have spec for thickness of pads and discs - i.e. New measurements and thickness at which they should be replaced?
Thanks
Mark

Outer "holes" on edge of discs are wear indicators for discs....once hole isn't visible anymore(worn down) this is indicating time for change.
