Hi all, I'm just looking in to ordering a new RS6 but can't make my mind up as to which options are worth having and which ones just Sound like a good idea when ticking the list.
Pan roof is a yes as is privacy glass but not sure on things like the dynamic options so was after some opinions on what you went for and if it was worth it.

Is the sports exhaust worth having at a £1000 or would I be better saving it to put towards a aftermarket system ?

Dynamic pack has to be on the list, and I'd say adaptive cruise (or the whole assistance pack) too. Ceramics are about the only "really no reason to spend that much" option, that and the B&O hifi.

If you are talking of the non PE model, the first option ticked on any order should be the 21" wheel option followed by a styling package, you want to get the car looking right first and I think the car needs the bigger wheels, the styling package (Black/Carbon for me) and the privacy glass to make it look the part. I think an RS6 on 20's looks a little lost and loses its aggressive nature.

As for the goodies list, the ones to avoid would be the Ceramics and B&O, £15k worth of options that just vanish into thin air as soon as you drive it off the forecourt. The only time an RS6 needs Ceramics is for track days, if you have no intentions of lapping the Nurburgring then there's no need for them. The standard stoppers are more than enough and can easily bring you down from 200mph to 0 quite violently with no issues. There is an aesthetic appeal to the ceramics I suppose, "hey everyone look at me I have ceramics" but as above if you don't plan on visiting the tracks, they're just for show. B&O, £6300, unless money is no object, enough said. You would be able to add in aftermarket for much cheaper if you find the standard sound system not upto scratch. The exhaust is another one, depends on whether you plan to modify the car later down the line or keep it standard? If you plan to modify the car, then the sports exhaust is pointless, there are better aftermarket options that will unleash more noise and more power. Again, if you plan to modify the car, there's no point paying a premium for a 174/189 top speed increase, a remap will remove this limitation naturally.

Dynamic and parking packages are seen as a must for some. The RS6 is a big car, the extra camera for parking is a nice to have and obviously the dynamic package for handling and feel although personally I find the standard air suspension just fine.

You can spec the car upto £140k with everything ticked so in order to avoid huge depreciation, add on the bits that you will see or use everyday is my advice

Is "grigio telesto" available as an Audi exclusive paint option?

Nardo Grey is an optional colour which is similar to Lamorghini's telesto. For me, it's now a bit too common a colour choice and - again for me - is a bit showy for what is meant to be an understated car.

I must confess that i bought the ceramics because they look cool. The discs are fappin' huge! However, it's great that there is very little brake dust and they also don't go rusty after rainfall. Moreover, i shouldn't have to replace pads or discs for as long as i own the car.

The Dynamic Pack was the essential option when speccing mine. The PE has a Sports Exhaust included, which helped justify me going for it over the 'normal' RS6. It's worth noting the PE also has privacy glass as standard, which you've mentioned.

The absolute must haves I had on my list were Dynamic Pack, 21 inch wheels for the handling and Sports Exhaust for the noise when you first drive it away. Advantage of the sports exhaust is that you can turn it off if you have sensitive neighbours. Agree that you should also pick one of the styling packs (gloss black, aluminium or the expensive carbon one) so that you get the nice Quattro badge in the grill. Given the car is keyless anyway, the advanced key might be a nice to have if you want to avoid clicking it when you open the doors.

I am also a great fan of the surround camera, it came on mine and I find it invaluable for negotiating with tight car parks in this barge. I would also go for the rear airbags, which should really be standard on a car like this.

Other then that acoustic glass is now standard, for the interior I would consider Audi Connect if you want the Google Maps function and would tick the "Smartphone Interface" given it is only £250 and gives you Apple Car / Android Auto connectivity.

I would spec the PE pack. extra three things most people go for dark glass, 21 alloys, exhaust + 50 bhp tweak with no warranty issues.
Standard HiFi is okay but not amazing.

If you really like a loud exhaust then don't waste the 1000 on the sports exhaust and go aftermarket as long as you can deal with the warranty question.

I agree that Advanced Parking is a godsend. I didn't want to spec it - my old man made me! Glad i went with it.

I hate privacy glass and that badge in the front grille, but I would still go for the PE if I were ordering today. An extra 50bhp - but, more importantly, the glow of having a 600bhp car (552 just doesn't sound OTT enough). Definitely worth the extra spend.

And the surround parking camera kit. Can't get my head round why anyone wouldn't have it - it's pennies compared to the overall cost.

I pretty much agree with all that has been said above;
Get the styling pack right as this makes a big difference to the look and is difficult to change afterwards. I picked titan trim which looked great on the configurator (no demo cars had been built yet) then 4 days later I tried to change it to carbon after seeing a photo of the trim on a german car but it was too late, build was locked. Now its a pain to change it.

Adaptive cruise and brake guard are excellent.

Parking pack advanced is excellent.

Sports exhaust and wheels already covered above but a potential saving if you want aftermarket wheels and exhaust. I modified the sports exhaust for a few hundred pounds and is now perfect for me.

For me DRC was essential. Probsbly doesn't make the car go any faster but it corners flatter; coming from a very flat cornering B7 RS4 I found the RS6 on air had too much body roll (DRC still rolls a lot but its better than air) .

B&O sounds very good for an OEM system bit not worth the money and can be bettered for less if you don't mind aftermarket. But si easy on the facelift cars as they use MOST150 and currently no one makes a convertor to allow you to extract a digital output so you'd need to amplify the output of the bose amp - not ideal!

Also connect is very good, I find google maps and google search very useful.

And I dropped the dvd /cd changer option once I found out the stereo will play cd quality flac files from a hard drive so I can have my entire music collection in the car rather than just 6 CDs worth.
