Miltek straight pipes

Post by Magido » Mon Oct 17, 2016 1:49 pm

Howdy!

I bought my RS6 without the sport exhaust. Then i upgraded to a Miltek cat-back (None resonated) and it sounds amazing.
But i would like the sound i got when im flooring it all the time (Even at slow speeds) so im thinking about upgrading to straight pipes (Catalytic replacements)

Have anyone heard these and can give me their 5 cents?

Best regards
ras

Have you tried disconnecting the Milltek valves?
I know someone with the CAT delete and he says it's now too loud for him.

No i have not. But if they are disconnected. Dosent that mean that they are closed all the time?

Disconnected means open all the time. Mine have been disconnected since week 1. Takes about 2 minutes to do and you don't even need to jack the car up, I did it lying on my back.

It does create an error code though ,but you will only see it if you plug a laptop into the car, no lights or errors on the dash. I have Milltek valve delete units that cancel the errors.

HI, just checking. With the plug unconnected, and valves open, it is only louder right but not as nice as putting the car into Dynamic mode right? thanks Phil

Not when the cruise control is on or reversing and a couple
of other senarios that I can't remember.

I love driving mine in normal mode manual with valves open. Sounds great but without the constant popping.

I think when in dynamic the valves are open at idle then close just over idle to around somewhere around 3k rpm then open again in the first 3 gears and are open all the time in the other gears. That's how it work on other RSs so imagine the 6 is no different.
So disconnecting the valves makes it louder from idle to 3k in the lower gears. And makes it louder all the time in comfort.

1). Engine module
Byte 9
Bit 2 - exhaust flaps installed (uncheck that)

Should be able to keep the flaps open permanently thrue VCDS.

Correct. Easy quick cheap mod! If you don't like it, plug them back in.

Word of warning; I had trouble plugging them back in or plugging them into the delete units, I was messing around for ages trying to plug them in. A little squirt of fairy liquid and it took a few seconds.
