Knocking and cutting out

Good day everyone.

I have had my rs6 performance for 2 weeks now and have noticed a few issues.
I noticed a knocking type of sound from around the suspension area when going over pot holes and speed humps (no matter which size and speed I take them). I did notice this the day I took delivery of it but was too busy enjoying the car to let it get to me.

The second issue is that last night I was slowing down approching a junction then all of a sudden the car cut out completly for about 3 seconds ( engine as well like the battery had been disconnected for those few seconds) then started up again, which was a worry as all the lights and the dash went off and of course no braking for that short period of time and the time and mileage on the dash being reset (not the total mileage of the car). The car is brand new on a 66 plate and covered 500 miles. Has anyone else had or heard of any of these issues? Of course the one which worries me the most is the cutting out expecially if I have my son in the car.
The car is on air suspension so is baffling me to the knocking noise but could just be top mounts that need lubrication.

Thanks guys

If the car is only 2 weeks old go straight back to dealer with issues.

Yes, I will do that it was just a question to see if anyone else had experienced similar issues and what the outcome was for them. :beerchug:

As above, neither of those issues sound like normal traits so i'd get it back in ASAP.

Is yours on DRC? Are well documented issues with DRC failing on a variety of RS's a while back, notably the B7 RS4, but i'd have thought this wouldn't be an issue on new RS's & they rarely failed so early in a cars life.

No, he said it is on air not DRC.

Sorry to read about your issues - hopefully doesnt dampen your honeymoon period :beerchug:

Hopefully you have a good dealer and you dont have to wait a week or two for a booking slot.
If you do i would phone Audi assist as cutting out when driving is a perfectly acceptable reason to get them out in my book. They will be able to get your car booked in and a courtesy replacement organised same day.

Interested to see how this pans out. I hope the efficient Audi service machine swings into action.

Hope you get this sorted ASAP.

Puzzled by the engine cutting out. Are you saying that, after the engine cut out, the car re-started itself (i.e. with the starter motor)? Or did you need to press the start button to get the engine running? And this happened whilst the car was still moving - both the engine cutting out and it re-starting?

Cheers guys.
I was slowing down approaching a side road junction, I had got down to about 10mph when the car just shut off completely. I mean the lights on the dash all went out the lights on the outside as well as the mmi and the engine completely shut down. After 3 seconds it all came back on and restarted without having to touch the engine start button. Sort of like if you disconnected the battery for a few seconds then reconnected it.

Apart from these problems, which will get sorted I love it.

If you disconnected and then reconnected the battery, the starter motor wouldn't restart the engine. Bizarre as it sounds, the only likely thing I can think of is a malfunctioning Stop-Start system - that's the only circuit that starts the engine of its own accord. Obviously, it is only supposed to work when the car is stationary...

Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Dealer ASAP. Not sure if I would even drive it. Perhaps Audi recovery?

a bit harsh. Can happen to any brand.

OP hope you can get it sorted. yes would be tempted to have it recovered.

The knocking is likely to be the exhaust, it's a known issue, or so I was told when mine started knocking. Mine only used to do it when cold before the metal expanded, which didn't help when trying to demonstrate it to a technician. I'm also on air.

Hello
Try to drive in dynamic mode and tell us if the noise continue...

My car was doing some noise in confort mode but in dynamic not.

Dealer looked and they trade the 4 shock absorver(dumper) in warranty
