I would be grateful for some guidance on my next set of tyres, please.

I have Continentals currently (the original factory fitted tyres). From what I have been reading here, I would do well to change them for another brand - and, truth is, my car is a little squirmy when pushing along, so I would like to change brands.

However, the Continentals have been brilliant in one key respect: their excellent level of rim protection. The rubber lip on the Continentals is invaluable for those wrongly-judged parking manoeuvres. And, being honest, I am far more likely to be parking my car near to a tall kerb than I am to be hooning down a sun-dappled country road at full bore.

But maybe I can have the best of both worlds. It looks like MPSS is the way to go. Can people with Michelin MPSS please advise on how good the protection is?

Any other tyre recommendation (considering both performance and rim protection, of course)?

I'd describe it as reasonable whilst not at all obvious. That's for my D2 S8 on 20" FE wheels.

That said I've still managed to scrape to a minor extent both nearside wheels, but it's a big heavy powerful car so will just push straight through any rim protection without a murmur.

RS6 would be the same of course, only gentle glances are really likely to be dealt with.

I had conti's on my last RS6 and pzero's on my current PE.
The pzeros changed this year and the rim protection on the new ones is deeper and better than the conti's, I am surprisingly pleased them. I am no real expert but certainly prefer them to the conti's on the last car, they are definitely quieter too.

As long as the dodgy implementation of the foam in the pzero's (a few rectangular pad stuck to the inside of the wheel !) holds I really like them.

I would be a little nervous about losing the R01 noise reduction with the MPSS's but I know very few that would prefer any tyre over them, myself included. And when I need new tyres they are likely to be top of the list, rim protection or not and as long as the reports for them stay as they are

Thanks for the replies. @mat776, I also put the noise reduction quite high on my list of requirements. Pirelli is sounding quite good. Might see if a few more MPSS owners comment (thanks for your input HPSauce) before deciding.

I have the Pirelli on the car from factory and they do have a good lip to protect the rims.
I have a different size MPSS on another car I own and it has a thicker bulge. It does not stick out as far but is deeper and stronger thus giving more feeling through the steering if you are going slowly into a space. I cannot comment on the specific size on the C7 on 21's however - sorry
