back in an rs6

Post by johnsimister » Mon Aug 08, 2016 12:07 pm

so having had a c6 rs6 back in 14/15 which MRC worked there magic on 789ps and just shy of 12 points on my license I had to get rid. I opted for a disco 4 to let my license cool down and after 3 months in that I found myself in a c63 and the noise I cant fault but for sheer pace its just not an rs6. So took the plunge yesterday and bought a c7. Should collect it Thursday already messaged Doug to get it booked in so watch this space. I've a few subtle changes planned. What route are people going with the exhausts? de cat ect?

Welcome back. You know the rules... Photos or it never happened!

Depends if you are after power or noise. If you want power then a full Milltek is the way to go as that is the most popular (only?) turbo back system. Akra, Capristo etc are cat back only so have very littler power gains and so are for noise really.
Alternatively you could mate up some decat pipes to one of the cat back systems.

I only wanted some extra noise so I had the front and centre resonators chopped out and that has given me the sound that i want (along with the valves being disconnected) for just a few hundred quid.

I know im 23 so unfortunately still a touch peddle happy, but aren't we all haha. yeah I want power and noise to be fair so will go down decat and cut the resonators out. i always find miltek stuff over priced a friend has a custom exhaust Shop local to me and always does a fantastic job so ill probably take it there. photos to follow, its not the best spec out there but it was on the money so im happy

LOL, in this case, Milltek is the budget option.
Cat back is about £1.5k, Akra is about £6-7k

We all have a heavy right foot on here- it is just a matter of picking the time and place appropriately. Points are a badge of shame and not a trophy for bragging rights down the pub (or on a forum!)...but then again I am an old bitter fart so probably out of touch with the real "drivers" that seem to have Audi's at the moment!

Welcome back in any case- choose your heavy right foot moments wisely or you could be on that pushbike before you know it!

Just noticed you have one with air... At least the sea sick feeling should slow you down.

And how much does it cost to insure a C7 at the age of 23 with circa 10 points!?! You don't have to answer that, I am just talking out aloud.

I'm not sure how much it would cost but the feeling when paying it, would be a little bit rapey 'struggle cuddle'...
No matter where you go, there you are.

£5500 I paid on the c63 which runs until feb next year they want another £225 to swop to the c7 until renewal mate. so ill pull my pants down ready for the renewal quote, as for the lottery win i wish i had won the lottery it would make my life far less hectic. nope just a 23 year old with something between my ears and 5 ltd companies grafting 7 days a week.

With a pile of points and under 25 I'm surprised you've got insurance at all!! I'd guess the excess isn't 250 quid either.

Maybe engage some grey matter on the speedo watching.....we all like to put our foot down, but clocking up that many is barking. I've not had a point yet.

Not this old debate again DRC v Air. This is a +2Tonne car, and sadly not a sports car with either DRC or Air. Track it [why would you?] then DRC probably has the edge, otherwise very little in it [and I did a b2b test Air->DRC->Air->DRC in one session on normal roads before placing my order]. Couple of times the ability to raise it up has saved my front splitter in areas where the council have been a little overzealous with their speed bumps or on rough ground. Even with KW spring kits etc the roll is reported to still be very evident with DRC- until uprated anti-roll bars are available I guess this will remain the case. Still each to their own I guess.

It was just a humerous comment, not a debate. You made it a debate again. :bash:
