Finally got a build date!

Post by HDPete » Sun Jun 26, 2016 6:45 pm

After all the delays and orders on hold, my April order now has a date of week 29/30. What's the typical timeframe from build commencing and hitting the UK shores?

Normally you should be able to collect from the dealer 4 weeks from the start of the build week. Incidentally, it will already be built by the start of the build week. It normally goes into the panel Shop the Thursday before build week, then on Friday it will go into the paint Shop, staurday and sunday will be in assembly, then on the monday of the build week it will go into quality control.

Thanks for that info Mike.

The date isn't showing properly in the Your Audi section. I get an error ${ORDER.firstDayOfBuildWeek}. If I log on and enter the order number manually into the URL so that I get: https://www.audi.co.uk/myaudi-public-ap ... rs/nnnnnnn, at the end of the page, I get 2016-07-25.

I managed to add the Adaptive Cruise Control pack even after the order was locked in via the dealer and the date didn't budge, so feeling very lucky & the excitement is kicking in now.

Couple of things:
1) it strange you have been given 2 build weeks. Audi's system only give you one. Either bw29 or bw30.
2) it takes a few days to be able to log on to to youraudi once your order is in the system, so nothing strange there.
3) The dealer doesn't lock the order, Audi do. Once it's locked you cannot change anything. So I am not sure that your dealer is being particularly transparent. If you added something it wasn't locked. Most things you add won't delay the order and the dealer can simulate the change before confirming it, and whilst no guarantee it will generally let you know if your change is likely to cause a delay.
4) bw29 is 18th July - its almost certainly locked by now. Always been about 3-4 weeks before bw for me, but it can vary. Sometimes the dealership system looks like the orders open but it doesn't allow changes and a phone call to Audi UK will confirm that it's actually locked. (You can call AUK with the order no. And confirm the bw with them brew)

Don't mean to piss on your fire but, I wouldn't feel absolutely confident about the order details on the basis of the info you have been given. (It's probably fine, but might be with asking them to be a bit more exact !

Got my build date last week too. Week 28 (week beginning 11 July). Still feels like ages away though.

So all being weel that will be an early August collection. Will you wait for Sept 1st for a 66 plate?
That might open up some good number plate options; RS6 6OAT, RS6 6OOM, RS6 6OMB off the top of my head, but the 6 is not a very convvincing B and it would be lower case too; not worth the extra wait if you ask me.

Plenty of nice non 65 plates available for the 6 though. I was nearly tempted by RS6 I SEE & RS6 I SPY.

Still in 'Quality Control'. Is there any reason why there would be a further delay beyond the week stated on the website? I would have expected it to be on the train by now!

Sometimes they find issues with things that dont work eg mmi or possibly a bad bit of paint etc. Better they find it and fix it now than you finding it later and having to go without the car and it being fixed at a dealer rather than factory. Sometimes they are just busier and it takes longer, maybe staff gone sick to sit in the sun.
