For those with Audi Sports Exhaust...

Is your engine smooth on initial cold start-up? My old 2014 model with standard exhaust was smooth throughout. However, the 2015 model I just collected with sports exhaust shakes and vibrates for the first 10-20 seconds. It then becomes smooth when the RPMs drop to normal idle speed?
Cheers

Can't say I've noticed any shakes and vibrations when starting cold other than normal ones. Mine is a 2016.
Assuming there is something wrong and you are not being paranoid, then check secondary air injection. Have you done a scan?

This sounds normal to me. On startup the exhaust flaps are open so there is quite a bark and a rumble, and idling is poor and slightly lumpy before settling down to a whisper-quiet tickover after about 10-20 seconds. Occasionally, this startup rumble sets my engine into a very rough idle that can shake the car slightly. I clear it with a small dab of throttle.
Done that on every startup since new (now on 19000 miles).

Im very familiar with what you at describing. Bit grumbly on start up but then as soon as I put into gear the revs chill out. If left in P it calms down after 20 seconds or so as you say. Totally normal in my view.

Yes, grumbly is a good description. Feels like misfires and the car wobbles a little until the revs fall to normal. My 2014 with standard exhaust was silky smooth during cold start-up as a comparison.

Yeah, interesting - I had a misfire on my Boxster back in the day a couple of times and I thought EXACTLY the same thing first time i had a cold start up on the audi, but figured there are so many systems that any probs would be alerted to me on the dash, and since then I haven't really worried about it. I call it character! And sounds like
Vagcom agree!

As described above, mine is noisier when first started until about 20 seconds or it is put into gear. But no vibrations or wobbles, just lovely deep V8 burble.

+1 on startup it likes to grumble a bit for a minute.
Prod the accelerator clears it quicker if you need to.
Slight feeling of imbalance
Louder
slightly higher revs

I paid more attention to mine this morning and while in the cold start phase it may have been vibrating a bit more than I thought. Only slight though.

Sounds like it could be normal. I feel it through the drivers seat the most.
Apologies if I have switched on anyones OCD's!
