Saw this a few weeks ago on IG, crazy if its hitting the numbers, unsure on legalities lol.

hear how when not connected to the OE exhaust system the sound it makes, seems lights the cracks and pops on most new performance cars are fake.

yep - pops and bangs on overrun/gearchanges are all programmed into the ecu for nice noise etc.

That's the one thing I don't like about my car - the fake, formulaic, pops and bangs in sport mode. I wish they were easily dialled out.

Surely fake is the wrong term? Isn't it overfueling burning in the exhaust. Quite common with turbo and supercharged cars. Even my old XKR used to do it. I like it to some degree but agree the RS6 is almost too much sometimes but it does make it feel quite naughty :)

Yes, but I'm not sure if the RS6 is even the fuel (I don't know - maybe it is), but seems like it's just programmed to do it

It pops/crackles exactly the same amount each time, and at the same point of throttle lift-off - seems more like a trigger than a reaction. 'Real' excess fuel burning would vary much more, hence I'm calling it fake!

Ilike the sound in sports especially full throttle upchnages, but don't use it as much as I would like,as I cringe every time it makes that contrived noise as you're slowing down for traffic, junctions, going through roundabouts etc,

Going to get it remapped later in the year when I'm near MRC and see if they can dial it out (and add a load of BHP :D )

I think I'm with you on this footsoldier, I really do think it's too much sometimes, every new performance car/hot hatch has this "feature" and I'm sorry but a new Astra vxr is not a V8 but will make the same crack and pops a proper car like the RS6 does.

My old C6 and new C6 only had the fart on upshift, and on downshift rather than a pop it's more of the engine revving higher and the tone of that at higher rpm.

Would be interesting to see if it can be dialled down.

New vids are popping up of the new Bugatti, same pops bangs etc, the old one never did that and that still sound good lol

In dynamic - drive - manual ... It stops the pops and bangs on overrun so why not just use that?
It's either that or just drive it like you stole it so that the EGTs get too hot and it'll cut the pops and bangs part of the map itself until they drop back down into the limit again
