MMI will not start up

HI,
For the second time my MMI has failed to start up. The first time, after pressing a few buttons and restarting the car, it booted up. This time, I could not get it to start on my 15 min trip. Has this happened to anyone before?

Yes. And it sometimes shuts down repeatedly, too. And then it will work for months faultlessly before kicking off again. I plan to ask about it at the next service.

Is it the opposite soft key for right hand drive cars or the same? I ask as all the other buttons are the opposite positions.

Ahh good point Mike. The B8's 3G+ MMI are all the same positions regardless and I didn't think to check, if that was still the case for your C7's.
For your RHD cars, I'd imagine that it would be:
Menu key
Centre selection button
Top right soft key
All (long) pressed together at the same time - if that doesn't work then try top left soft key?
To be honest, it was a bit of a long shot suggestion really. As I reckon that the problem is hardware and the users car will need hooking up to see if there have been any fault codes logged. Most likely it's a dealer visit for new MMI module under warranty.

I tried rebooting it (the key combo works) on my 2.5 hours journey today, and no joy - many times. I have no idea what is going on. It's still buggered.

The correct key strokes for rebooting are in the Owner's Manual.

So, on Tuesday, the car was picked up the Audi Dealer. After testing...they could not find out what was wrong, as no error codes came up. However, they could see the system would not start up. They therefore spoke to Germany, who asked them to undertake a few tests. Following this they have ordered a new MMI control unit, which is being flown over from Germany today.
I'm not happy. This is a £90000 5 weeks old car, and for 5 days I have been in a courtesy car. I am not sure what I should do, but I feel aggrieved.

Annoying but sounds like Audi doing what they can. This things happen whatever the price of the car. Happens to us humans too

Well it took 9 days (mainly waiting for the MMI control unit to be shipped from Germany), and the car has now been fixed. Thank goodness. And the best thing?....well, my iPhone now syncs with the car. I had opened a thread to try and resolve that issue, but all it needed was a new MMI control unit. Who would have thought ...?
