I recieved an invite to go to Audi in Piccadily tonight to see the new R8 Spyder and some other new model. I have a meeting in London later so thought i'd go. Anyone else heading there?

It's TTRS. I had an invite but declined, the R8 launch was underwhelming.

I've been at my local dealer today and they mentioned the event at London Audi. Something about the R8 Spyder and TTRS being announced. Shame that it's a plane ride away or else I'd pop in.

It was quite an interesting event; free champers and food so can't complain. The reveals are a little contrived but they actually flew in one of the design team who did an interesting talk so it was better than simply a sales guy reading a press release. Sadly, no RS6s to sit in though!

You were right, it was the TTRS (convertible) which still looks like a girl's car no matter how many times they mentioned the word 'masculine'. I was more surprised that the marketing teams allowed it to be within 0.1 of the R8 V10's 0-62mph time though!

I didn't realise there was a full week, I had an invite to Monday night.

I went to the Boxter launch at my local OPC last night, Chris Craft was present for the main chit chat. Booze, canopes, plenty of cars to goggle, DJ, it's a good gig. Audi just don't do this in the same fashion, it's selective single events in one part of the country. The R8 launch was laughable, one car, in a room with a sales bloke from Slough Audi. Crap.

Is that correct? The R8 0-62 is 3.1 & the TTRS Coupe i believe is 3.7 so i'd guess the rag top would be a touch slower.

It was am R8 Spyder which was displayed as 3.6 versus the TT's 3.7.

You'd have to argue that in the real world on British roads the TT would probably be quicker A-B. Of course, I'd rather have a V10! Got to say i'm not sure about this very square, angular look of new Audis. I thought the last R8 looked way better. The new A4 and Q7 in particular are a big step backwards in my eyes. Wonder what the next RS6 will look like!
