The good news. My car is at the dealers- went to visit her today (really to sign the papers). Couple of photos, note the protective stone chip film on the bonnet -you can barely see it

.
The bad news 5 days earlier some little sc**tes tried to break into the house at 3.30 am Police say definitely to steal car keys. Fortunately trembler alarm went off and alerted police before we could even get on the phone. Traffic cops were there in c8 minutes! Unfortunately this is not the first time and my better half is very unhappy about current cars let alone a new one now. So having to delay registration until we both calm down and I can get the garage emptied.

Very sorry to hear this fella. Glad the family are okay. At 498cm, I hope the 6 fits!

+1!!!
I have a double garage (probably more like 2.5 width) and extra length so the 6 easily fits in there... If only the doors were wide enough to get it in.

Thanks guys. Nothing like Eddie's experience and I read that and hesitated for a long time given the last attempt was only 6 months earlier. Not yet prepared to give up and so far our security has held up. Lot of damage to a door this time. Police were great but strangely asked if I had an RS6 which I don't yet! At 3.30 I didn't ask how they knew. Bothering me now.
I have been googling crooklock type stuff and there is one which attaches the steering wheel to the brake pedal but needs a straight run. I forgot to look at the dash but do you think that would fit the rs6?

Disklock over the wheel steering wheel stops anyone driving the car. I have one on my 205 GTi.
....but if they are going to break in for the keys, it isn't really going to help. RS6 in garage, new garage door, and your wifes car nose upto the garage door overnight is your best bet

In the photo above the car has a plate, therefore I assume it is registered and hence fuzz joined the dots.

Ian -firstly 205 GTi

when I was a lad had a 5 owner 1.6 and my first brand new car was a graphite grey 1.9 with big sunroof. Using the garage is a bit of a f*g as I have to move her car when I get home and then repeat in the morning. That said I will do it.
Doodlebug the plate thing confuses me a bit. I told the dealer Friday I would put a private plate on it RS56AUD. Today they said their 'people' had assumed I would move the plate from my RS4 RS54AUD on to it and had made them up despite my request that it is registered on 4 May! Plus what the Police said all a bit weird.

With pleasure comes pain. Sorry to hear the events. I also worried a bit about this given I came from mostly less targeted cars.
Sort the insurance, its a bit of metal not a body part or loved one, set your sites accordingly. Get a secure lock box for the keys which provide RF blocking. Get a shotgun licence and learn how to aim to miss, it scares the f__k out of the dead when you pull the trigger. They won't come back.
Good call on the 205 1.9 - wicked.

Mr Evil. I agree re cars. Ive been lucky to have 30 or so great and not so great cars with only some city centre vandalism to worry about over the years. But then again some Cs trying to get in my house upsets me more than I can say. Like home alone I have some surprises for the next time.

Well, I hope the c-units get what they deserve and you never hear from them again. Good luck with the PE - Sepang with black optics is going to special!

Mr B. First off congrats the RS looks a beaut. Secondly don't let what happened to me worry you too much. Enjoy your car!!! We can all agree what happened to me is very rare and hopefully it won't happen to any of you guys. My only advise is don't have Audi fit your tracker if you are considering one!!! Go to reputable company and even if you have to pay extra labour fitting time so they fit it in a really really good place so as it's as hard as poss to find. Any good installer will try hard as long as they are given the extra time. And don't forget it is only a car so don't lose sleep over it. Ps the paint pot over the door always makes me giggle.
