The Tiptronic box doesn't have a dedicated launch control feature although it does allow you to effectively mimic a boosted launch.

ESP off
Dynamic/Sport selected
Left foot firmly on brake,
Right foot down, will Rev to around 2600
Hold for a second or two
Left foot release.

It's good fun, it takes off like a scalded cat.

I was warned by supplying dealer when picking the car up, that on servicing 'they' can tell how many
launch's you have done and more than 7 will get you a bollocking..........!!!

Especially as six of those seven have probably been done by the service tech who did the road test at the end of the service.

Make sure you hold down the ESP button for a few seconds so it turns everything off, stick it in Dynamic mode and then left foot on the brake (hard) and bury the throttle. If it fights against the brakes it's not done it properly so ease off the throttle and try again. It's also not a very good idea to hold it very long before releasing the brake.

Tight grip too, just in case.

Yes, they can read how many you've done. I think there's a limit of 200 launches before the ECU stops the use of that function.

I've done about 40 so far.

There's nothing in the manual to tell me not to do it or how many times I can do it. I've heard this 200 limit banded around before and seen someone point to a US based article that mentioned it. I had over 250 launches on my previous TTRS and that was still launching perfectly when I sold it, all runs logged with time slips etc so I knew I was over 250.

I think the 7 mentioned above is just the dealer saying be careful rather than anything official, puts a doubt in your mind not to launch it then.

I bet sitting on the autobahns all day at 180mph is more stressful on the drivetrain than a few launches. The reason Audi went with the Tip box was due to its reliability. They didn't have a reliable S tronic alternative.

I really can't see them denying a warranty claim based on how many times it's been launched. There would be no point in having the function in the first place.

Yes, I think doing it now again must be fine. It is quite something though, addictive!
