Exhaust options.

My C7 will be arriving week after next, and only has the standard (non sport) exhaust. Are there any options to release a little more noise from it without completely changing exhaust? In what way was the OEM sports exhaust different to the standard, and could it be replicated? I want to maintain function of valves.
I do high miles so do not want any drone etc, replicating the sports exhaust and keeping valve control would be perfect.
Advice appreciated as always!

The can of worms has been opened
Every C7 owner and his dog will have an opinion on this one!!
Me....never experienced OEM exhaust....my C7 already had a NON-RES milltek with valves fitted.
To me it sounds awesome.....amazing pop and cracks....zero drone at any speeds.
So for me there's my call.
Of course the Akra boys will be a long soon....
Depends what your budget is too I suppose?

I think the non res Milltek will be too loud for me, and don't want to spend too much if I can help it. Was thinking more along the lines of modifying the standard (non sports) exhaust. Ideas?

In that case cut out the secondary cats and centre resonators. Should only cost a couple of hundred quid.
If milltek non res is too loud you could always get the res version.

Someone on here took their car with a standard exhaust to their dealer who managed to fit the Sports exhaust all in for about £800. Really galling as the option was £1K from the factory. Post was from at least a year ago or more, so not sure if yo'll find it easily.

Personally, I don't like the fart'ie type of noise the Miltek and others make! However, the Akrapovic system doesn't exhibit that trait and gives the RS6 a purposeful, yet refined demeanour which is more befitting of its design purpose.

I know it's hard to explain without hearing it, but how much louder and what sort of effect will this create? Will it be comparable to the OEM sports exhaust? Couple hundred quid sounds more appealing than £2k on Milltek.

It's 10% of the cars value and people fit 2k Miltek systems to <20k cars all the time. Potentially it will be Audi approved as well.

That may be Sam, but Im not spending 6k on an exhaust, don't think many others would either.

Then best wait until Mike reports back after he's done the work to his standard system.

Does mike have the standard non sports, or standard sports? I am also going to get a price from Oxford Audi for retrofitting OEM sports exhaust. From what i can gather its just centre box & tips....

Mike's Performance Edition comes with the Sports Exhaust as standard.
I'm not familiar with the in's and out's of the C7 but does it not need a re-code for the Sports Exhaust? So that it then works fully with the drive select?

Thinking about it, that sounds feasible. I have emailed a salesman I know at Oxford Audi, see what he comes back with tomorrow....

I've already done this and can say that it's ended up sounding exactly the same as a Milltek Non-Res. The lad who's currently mapping my performance edition has an RS6 with a Milltek Non-Res so I've heard both side by side. On start up his is louder (cold start) but revving/driving etc, we couldn't tell any discernable differences.
