Does anyone know if there are any mechanical differences between the PE and non-PE cars, has any strengthening of the engine be done etc?

Guess you'd have to get someone to do a parts no. check. I haven't seen any details (and i've done a lot of Googling!) so assuming it is just a map.

Of course, the question is how much power the map brings. Fascinated to see someone get a PE on the rolling road to see what numbers it makes, given the standard car makes over quoted figures.

I assume its just a map as the same engine is in the new S8 and that was quoted 605Ps out the box all they have done is match the new S8 with the PE edition.
It may also have different Cat's to cope with the extra emissions, has anyone checked c02 output between the two "engines" thats a good indicator.
It might just be a map but it'll certainly be a well engineered one to make it conform to the Euro emissions trash!

I wonder how they've done it then? there's no way it would stay the same, saying that... in the C02 tests the new map might not affect that, leaving the figures identical.
But usually a mapped car will have a higher c02 output, unless im talking out my ass someone can correct me, but i guess it depends on how the tests are done.
Audi/VW are good at beating emissions tests hahaha!

The emissions and fuel consumption tests run at specific speeds and engine loads. The PE map only kicks in at the very high end of the rev range and thus the official CO2 and fuel consumption tests just don't see the change to the map impinging on the test process.

This is quite common and I have seen it elsewhere - albeit also in the VW group. Compare the Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed variants and you will see the exact same thing. I haven't bothered checking the Bentley V8 and V8S figures (which use the same basic engine as the RS6) but I would imagine it's the same: different engine outputs but identical CO2 and fuel consumption figures.

Not anyone related but mechanical still; when Luke from Plush was working on my car he noted some lower arm and ARB Mount differences between my car and his non PE facelift car. I'm nit sure if his car is MY15 or 16 though, as that might explain the difference rather than it being PE related.

From memory the difference in power was down to a higher boost and i have a feeling i read possibly slightly higher rev limit.
