Has anyone personally compared the launch control on a pre facelift and post facelift ?
Reason I ask is that judging from YouTube clips the pre face lift cars (tuned) seem to have no issue with the car fighting the brakes and lurching forward on the launch. On the post facelift (tuned) cars it doesn't seem to be that easy. The brakes don't hold on at all.

It shouldn't fight the brakes at all on L/C
The idea is that it completely disengages the clutch, and holds a fixed amount of revs until the brake is completely released
I've used L/C on both pre and post facelift C7's, and not noticed any difference
Hope that helps

For a facelift car...
Stock :- ESP fully off, Dynamic selected, you can hold it on the launch of 2700rpm for a few seconds
Tuned :- ESP fully off, Dynamic selected, nope, you can barely hold it, as soon as the boost bar gets above 2/3, it will nudge forward, you really need to time it just right to use LC in a tuned car, you get about a second at 2700 before you need to let go.
Not sure what it was like on the pre facelift cars.

Yes .. Exactly that Leo !! As said, judging from YouTube clips, the pre facelift seem to less aggressive off the line.

I don't think its launch control, all we are doing is trying to kill the torque convertor. I have only done it twice and wont be doing it again. Not tried it on my car since tuned.

I tried it up at Crail with a massive fail! Almost felt like a stall off the line. Had a stage 2 golf r next to us who smoked us off the line to the extent of 4 car lengths!! Only due the the car being an absolute beast we eventually caught and over took before the 1/4 mile

Slosh will not do the same as dual clutch. There's no launch other than planting your foot.

The Golf R will be able to hold for 10secs or so which means he can line up, go full throttle and then release the brake when the lights change. In the Tiptronic, you don't get the luxury of holding it for 10secs, you'll get about 3 in a standard car so if the lights take longer than 3secs to change, you're screwed. Timing is key, if you want to race the car in the next lane, you need to anticipate when the lights will change and then setup a launch just before the lights change. Very tricky to do. As the object of a 1/4m event is to run the quickest time possible, you need to forget about the car in the other lane, you're racing the clock, not him. For this reason, the best strategy is to let the lights change and then setup your launch and release, the other guy probably will have bug*ered off by then but adopting this approach means that you do not rush the launch and that you post an overall quicker time. The timing starts as soon as you cross the beams, not when the lights change so you can sit there as long as you want and not be penalised.
There was a standard RS6 a few months ago posting 11.3 1/4m times for reference, I notice you only managed a 12.1? Were conditions slippy?

Funny the Golf is mentioned as I used to have a Stage 2 Golf R and found there was always an annoying delay with the launch and never used it after my first go!

I did spot the below on YT so knew it was possible
Translated from the details box...
The procedure for using the controlled start is as follows:
- The car must be stopped , the right wheel and at normal operating temperature (90 °)
- Dynamic Sport Mode engaged
- The esp totally disabled (ZZZ edit: single press, not all the way off).
- Keep the left foot on the brake and the right to build on the accelerator ( the rev counter goes up to 3000 rpm )
- Release the brake and Goooooooo
Looks to be around a 2700rpm launch so pulls away cleanly and right on boost

So these dont have a proper factory launch like the Golf R does for example?
This holding on the brake is more of a trick? TC wont last long doing this every other day would it?

No, as not double clutch. Sounds like it'll not do great things for the TC.

C7 doesn't have launch control. If it did it would have been written I the manual. My S5 had launch and my sons B8 RS4 has it and both had it explained in the manual. Launch is only available with S'tronic transmission not on tiptronic.
