Wind noise

Post by Jimpoole12 » Thu Feb 25, 2016 11:18 pm

Evening,

I've read various reviews that say the RS6 suffers badly from wind noise, is this true and how bad is it? Also, has the facelift in June 15 (??) solved this?

Thanks for help, this forum is great.

I have a facelift car with the double glazed front windows and dont have a problem with wind noise. I've not driven a pre facelift to compare though but I've heard it was louder.

Built Dec 14 onwards. You can't assume 15 reg means FL though this will mostly be the case.

I have a pre face-lift with double glazing and don't find there's any excessive wind noise. An A5 black edition was significantly more noisy.

I thought the issue was that double glazing was an option on pre facelift cars and those without it were noisy so they made it standard equipment on the facelift model.
If you have a pre facelift with double glazing then it should be as quiet as the facelifts.

I originally tested the RS6 when they were first released at a RS spectacular day. 1 of my first impressions were how awful the wind noise was. It sounded like the window was partly open. I reported back to the techs that were there on the day and he said a few people were mentioning the same. As such when I knew of the Facelifts arrival in 2015 I asked if the wind noise problem had been resolved. The answer was that Audi fixed the problem with a revised window seal and via double glazing. So basically if the car has swooping indicators it is a 2015 facelift and no wind noise.

The demo I drove was pre FL wind noise was very apparent / annoying. Even my wife thought a window was slightly open.

My FL is more or less silent re wind noise. Big improvement over the demo car. Now the wind noise is gone I can hear the tyres  Again not that intrusive though. Car is very refined.

I've had 2 x C7's and neither of them have suffered from wind noise....in fact I've had comments from passengers about how quiet and refined the car is.....until I knock the selector down into sport mode and make the exhaust bark.
