I was going to say the same. Yes i'm sure the uplift will make the car more exciting & obviously quicker, but not sure i'd agree with it being 'much needed'.

Curious as to who's mapping it?

Much needed I guess coming from quicker cars the RS is a tad slow for me.

Won't be happening today. Bought myself a new 2 post car lift yesterday now stuck in bed with a knackered back one wrong turn while carrying it. I hate getting old

The much needed comment is tongue n cheek. There's fast cars (RS3/M3/C63's etc) there's really fast cars (RS6/M5/GTR's, Porsche Turbos etc) and then cars that are probably too fast for the road. (Hypercars and tuned really fast cars)

I think the standard car is obviously classed as a really fast car to the majority of petrolheads. A standard car doing 60 in 3.3secs and 100mph in 7.7 secs deserves that accolade, no questions asked.

Then there's tuning, my car has had the Stage 2 treatment and ever since being mapped I'm of the opinion that it's now actually too fast for the roads. It will really bite you if you don't give it respect and it's just so ferocious that it can be quite dangerous. It's a 2t mass accelerating very hard, i haven't been able to put 100% traction down onto the Tarmac now for the last 3 months. Full traction wise over the last 3 months, 1st and 2nd gear has been a no go and third gear is hit or miss. Even when you do get it to hook up in 3rd, the back end is sometimes all over the place trying to put its power down. It's brutal, when a 4wd car is struggling for grip, you can argue that it's power is probably too high for the roads.

750hp is great for long runways, top speed events and fast 100+ driving but for road use with <100mph speed limits, it's too much. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I absolutely love the power in mine and wouldn't change it but when I drive a normal car to work and back and then step into the RS6, you come to the realisation that it's ridiculous.

They say on a GTR, the sweet spot for the best car is at Stage 4 levels. So 630hp/630lbft. More power does not make the car any better other than pub bragging rights and discussing tenths of seconds.

Enjoy the remap Paul, if it's stage 2 you're getting done with the downpipes, it's just bonkers. So much fun

Paul, the RS6 you have now is a quicker car than the day you picked up your GTR so you haven't come from quicker cars

MY09/10 GTR's..

60 in 3.5-3.8
100 in 8-8.5
1/4m in high 11's.

RS6

60 in 3.3
100 in 7.7
1/4m in 11.3

You're comparing your Stage 5 GTR with bigger turbos so a highly modified GTR to a standard RS6.

Compare apples with apples, you'll just be alienating some members here with the opinion that their cars are slow

My GTR was stage 2 when I bought

On the wee test track I have the RS6 is in 4 th place

1st GTR stage 4 did not do it when it was stage 5
2nd C6 RS6 around 700bhp
3rd Stadard M5, brutal engine
4th C7 RS6 slow lol it's 5 mph behind the m5 never mind the others

I come from an F10 aswell Paul and it was only ever quicker like for like with the RS6 above 100mph. Below that, the RS6 was quite a bit quicker especially off the line. I guess if your test is an 80-140mph test then the M5 would be slightly quicker. 4wd losses means less effective power. You just need to look at the F10's standard 1/4m figures, 11.9 vs 11.3 in the RS6

You need a vbox rather than a stretch of road and a speedometer reading

50mph until the finish line. up a very steep hill so weight pays a big part.

I don't need to see any figures. real life in my situation is above.

RS6 is the slowest and not that much quicker than others I have owned. Looking forward to more power see what it does.

Roads must be really empty, wide and well-surfaced with good sight lines up in Aberdeenshire to be able to find the RS6 slow. Down here in Surrey, my RS6 is no faster than the car in front (or the one in front of that, or the one in front of that, etc.). Even in Wales, the roads are too tight, the hedges are too high and the straights too short to find the RS6 slow.

yeah, compared to you guys down south it is derelict. Aberdeen is mental but where I live it is pretty quiet, rush hour is about 50 cars for 15 mins lol.

everytime I drive way down south I can never believe the volume of traffic.

my car spends most of its time trundling along but when I want a blast it needs to be funny quick (GTR style). Take Wednesday night coming off a roundabout s3, tunned up Scooby and me. Car full of stuff and shopping, yeah my car was the quickest but not night and day quicker. Scooby was bloody fast.

I miss my old Scooby, classic with 500bhp used to absolutely blow other cars away. Looked completely stock to other than the compulsory massive exhaust lol.
