No, its not vacuum operated like the B7 so there is no hose, it has wires instead. Just unplug the wires from the valves (they are close to the rear bumper) and tape up the wire connector and tape up the connection on the valve just to stop any muck getting into the connectors. There is one connection on each side of the car so 2 in total.

Anyone got any info on what to do to keep the valves open though ? Any links ? Prob a simple task , but not quite sure what i'm looking for and what to do... Thanks
I have the Milltek midpipes sitting in my garage unused that you can have.

They connect to the standard downpipes at one end but will need modification at the other end to mate to the stock system. Not sure what option would work out cheaper for you? a whole new custom mid section or a small change to the Milltek's?

Edit...Looking at the mid section exhaust, I think all it would need at the other end is a reducer. 2.75'' down to 2.5''.

I'm not 100% sure if these are the 3rd and 4th cats (Secondary cats) or just noise suppressors. I really need to find out for sure just for clarification. Should release a few horsepower and release some noise anyway

I have this section sitting here spare in my garage, may be of use to you...

Yeah i'll take it mate... Will ping you a message on FB later

So they are fail open? unplug the wire and they will remain open? not had mine on the ramp yet so not looked at it.

You given it some Revs to see if you can hear a differencd? I assume the valves behave like the B7 ones and close at certain revs even in dynamic mode.

interesting results.

went for a blast and a run round town.

Round town you can hear the exhaust all the time now. Sounds way better. very slight drone when below 2k revs but nothing annoying. I did this on my m5 and it annoyed me around town so I went back to standard on the M5

On blast there is no different. No pops and bangs unless in sport mode or dynamic (pity) BUT I cant believe how loud the pops and bangs are now. Crazy difference. the flaps must be closed all the way or almost closed when running in standard configuration on overrun or changing down a gear. Sounds great. I like this free mod :thumb:

Good stuff! Like I've said for a long time, this was one of my favourite mods on the B7. Now chop out the centre resonator for £100, who needs an Akro eh?

Will the milltek downpipes make it catless?

*UPDATE*

Ok so i don't have a video up yet as i've only had the install done , but what i can say is what a bloody difference !

i removed the downpipes and added LEO's miltek downpipes which deletes a set of 3rd cats. From there we did a custom straight pipe and removed the centre res box and ran them all the way to the back box. The sound is absolute unreal !!! The bangs and pops are 100x louder than the original stock setup for the sports exhaust , but the note is just amazing.

If your looking for a cheap way to get more out of the sports exhaust system that you already have then i would definitely recommend going down the route of doing this.

I'll get some proper videos with Martay and the Gopro tomorrow...

Nive one. So does that mean you have kept the main and secondary cats?
