Tyres!

Post by Zeebuilder » Wed Jan 20, 2016 10:41 am

Well had the car for 6 months now and I'm looking for new wheels. Gonna keep original for winter.

Now tyre choice! All input welcome. I currently run perelli but I know there are a few others running other rubber.

Any thoughts on the Dunnys/Conti's would be welcome. Personally I do like the Perelli although a bit soft and wear a little faster than I'd like.

Personally I'd only ever put Goodyear Eagle F1s or Michelin tyres on any of my cars if available in the right size.
What size wheels & tyres you going for?

MPSS here for me too. Near freezing temps last night and still got full traction in 2nd/3rd at WOT with a stage 2 C6, very impressed!

Gonna go for 21x10.5 set up. Couple I'm looking at. Would take the PE wheels in a second really like them.

M5 was on MPSS, RS6 is on P Zeros, M5 virtually no tramlining. RS6 deffo tramlining, is it the tyres or the car? I suspect its the tyres as 4 wheel drive cars very rarely tramline whereas RWD more or less do it all the time and the BM was great. Deffo MPSS next time for me.

other than that the P Zeros are a bit noisy (or again might be the car compared to the M5?) but very good on the grip front

On my S8 I have MPSS for summer on 20's and Pirelli Sottozero on 18's for winter.
I don't find the winter brand is quite as critical though (as long as it's a good one) but MPSS are excellent in summer.

MPSS are an incredible tyre. Traction is superb, even on wet roads, good levels of wear resistance too. My car was fitted with Pirellis on delivery, I found their performance in the wet to be a lot poorer compared to the MPSS , higher levels of tyre degradation too. I had Eagle F1s on my RS4 which were also a good all rounder but I'm not sure if you can get them for the 21" rims on the C7.

I think you should invest in some slicks for Crail in February!

Michelin pss, when you warm them up on a track and lean right on them with the exception of cups nothing comes close
