overview
Well guys( and girls)had my C7 since March and thought I would give you my opinion on the car-11000 miles in. Car excl Sprint blue, keyless
sports exhaust, kick boot thingy,21s black, set up engine and exhaust in dynamic, suspension in comfort are my preference-find myself driving on paddles 95 % of the time.
Dangers= torque steer and the constabulary
Regrets= not having the overhead camera
Things gone wrong= folding mirrors ( only twice ) seems to be after heavy rain, offside only overcome with internal knob,2 centre vents do not give out heat, left these until the 1st main service.
Comments= ran the car in on advice,3000 miles not exc 3000 revs--past threads on this, but engine sweet as a nut,no oil usage.
Annoyances= can't start the car in heavy frost and leave it to defrost, have to stay in the car !! particularly in the Alps, where at the moment it is about -10 in the morning
Must haves=winter tyres, abso fantastic-it alters the car for the better( that takes some doing )
Disadvantages= big car, hell of a job to get onto the Tunnel, country roads you have to be careful !!!
So, what do I think,---best car I have ever had, before this a B7,then B8 whist I waited for the car to arrive, worried a little how it would fair after the B7 which was a great car,but as time has gone on,I really do think it is every bit as good and in some ways a lot better. It draws the same attention as the B7,( the B8 never did ) total strangers asking about the car and how much they love the car, which did slightly
surprise me.
Did wonder about the PE but I can't really see the point,my car is off the planet fast,a total adrenalin rush every time I drive it.
A ? the car is on air, after sitting for 8/9 hours at the office, for the first 3 mins ish it's rock hard and then settles into comfort, anyone else noticed this--is there a reason ??
That's it,can't think of anything else-just thought you might be interested-all in all a fantastic car-it's going to be a struggle to find a replacement.

Re: overview
Pretty sure I saw a setting in VCDS that stops the engine cutting out when you get out of the car.10biscuits wrote:

Re: overview
I used to be able to get out of the car with the key and leave the missus in the car with the engine running. It never cut out at all even for as long as 15 mins.

Re: overview
Think maybe Mike means you can get out and lock the car??? If so that would be handy! Especially to let the car defrost in the drive whilst having another cuppa b4 work
Re: overview
Is it the same for keyless entry and non-keyless entry?
Re: overview
No, I'm pretty sure the A6 has a engine cut out when you get out of the car, pretty sure the RS6 I test drove did this too. It didn't have keyless entry.Zeebuilder wrote:Think maybe Mike means you can get out and lock the car??? If so that would be handy! Re: overview
I have a FL July 15 and sometimes my wife nips into shops with keys etc and engine works no problem. Be god if you could lock it though.
Re: overview
Zee you can still lock it!! The person left in the car just needs to hit the lock button on the door panel. My missus did this all the time.Zeebuilder wrote:I have a FL July 15 and sometimes my wife nips into shops with keys etc and engine works no problem. Be god if you could lock it though.

Re: overview
Googling it looks like the engine cuts out when you open the drivers door, but only if the car has been driven since it was started, so if you start it on the driveway then open the door you should be ok.
Re: overview
That's not true mike. Ok I'll explain it like this. I would pull up at a shop get out of car taking my keys leaving the missus in the car with the engine still running, to keep her warm, and she would lock herself in via the lock button on her door. The only time the engine would cut out is if I hadn't turned the start/stop feature off and if that were the case the engine would cut out as soon as I put it in neutral/park.MikeFish wrote:Googling it looks like the engine cuts out when you open the drivers door, but only if the car has been driven since it was started, so if you start it on the driveway then open the door you should be ok.
