What are you guys and girls using up uprated panel filters. I am planning to get a re map by MRC and I really wanted the AWE induction kit but apparently they are a waste of money. MRC suggest a panel filter and I have decided to put the money I save on the induction kit towards a remap. :bigblink:

BMC filter. I've used them previously and no issues. Low cost upgrade.

To be fair mate. There was a big thread about this on the srs forum in relation to the b5 rs4 and the end result was just to fit stock as it doesn't make any real difference. Some were worse once tested. Some are oiled and goosed the mafs. I put stock in and then bin them once a year.

Did you notice any diference with the BMC woth either performance or sound? When I changed the panel filter in the B7 I can't say I noticed any difference.

Nope

Proven gains in the C6....and C7 according to MRC.

I would say on its own it's not worth doing, would only be worth it alongside a map and exhaust imo

When MRC map the car, they will heavily recommend you replace the standard paper filter for an ITG panel filter. They will also recommend you change the spark plugs as the standard plugs have proven unreliable on tuned cars.

I've not seen anything to persuade me to change the standard intake for an aftermarket induction kit though but it's a good idea to stick in a less restrictive panel filter into the standard airbox.

I know when I had the stage 2 done on my b7 at MRC they used ITG filter, who's doing the work?

Not really to be honest but maybe harder to tell on a 500bhp+ car. Definitely noticed change in noise on both my B7 and AMG.

Sorry only going on what was discovered on the b5 rs4 and thought it may be the same here. Will bow to other knowledge. I asked about the plugs and one said the rs2 are good for tuned cars but Doug said the correct ngk ones are perfect and that's what the forum guide suggested should I have got something else then ?

They did not mention the panel filters at all !!

Specifically for the 4.0TT engines.

In the last few months, 3 of my friends, 2 with RS6's, 1 with an RS7, along with myself in an RS6 have been sold a package by MRC for map/filters/plugs as a Stage 1. My car had less than 1000m on the clock so I asked why the plugs were needing upgraded and the reason was down to reliability.
