Anyone got an Akrapovic ?
I don't like the milltek sound and wanted deeper burble rather than a rasp.
The cheapest i can find is £5750 fitted.
cheers in advance
I had the exact same view a couple of weeks ago, I didnt like the noise of the Milltek on Youtube, it sounded raspy and tinny in comparison to the Akrapovic.
£6k is a hell of a lot of money to pay for what is essentially an exhaust noise upgrade. Performance wise, it's the same 2 x 2.5'' diamater bore as the standard system. Akrapovic do not offer the performance part of the exhaust system, i.e the downpipes. You're essentially paying for the name and the exhaust note. I agree with the poster above, I dislike its twin tail pipe design also, it looks awkward, the standard ovals are nicer.
I bought the full Milltek exhaust system and had it fitted last week, what i will say, having had the exact same opinion as yourself beforehand, I was shocked when i started it up. I expected a tinny raspy sound as per the YT videos but in real life and up close, it sounds really deep and purposeful. The YT videos are not doing the Milltek system any justice and I'm not exactly sure why, the sound is so much more impressive up close. I went for the resonated centre section rather than the straight through so this may contribute to the reason as to why I was so impressed with it.
Cost wise... You can get the full Milltek turbo back system which will release about 60hp (If you tune for it) for around £2,400 + fitting. This is for the full Milltek catback (Around £1650 + the Milltek downpipes/centre section, £750) £2.4k for full turbo back Milltek or £6k for the Akra 'half' system. When you look at it like that, it kind of puts it into context how much of a rip off the Akrapovic system is.
If you're still after the Akra just for the noise element, someone was selling one in the for sale section a month or 2 ago, send them a PM to see if they still have it.
