RS6 or SVR
RS6 or SVR
Guys i know you all love the RS6 but did anyone before ordering or buying consider the RRS SVR or any of the fast suv,s ?
After all they are doing roughly the same job are they not? I must admit i do like them, but then i am a Range Rover driver.

Re: RS6 or SVR
Never driven the RRS SVR, so can't comment directly, however have driven the X5M & 6M, but really don't get the point of them & i'd assume the SVR fit's into a similar category. In a straight line they're all blisteringly quick, but even though their damping etc. is enhanced to improve cornering, you're still in a very high & very heavy vehicle so the experience seems totally electronic & false along with being somewhat frightening.
If i wanted a big bus then i'd but a FFRR, if i wanted a performance car i'd get an RS/M/AMG (assuming i wasn't considering an actual Sports Car), but to try & combine the two really smacks of why bother, but perhaps it's just me.
The RS6 is going to be quicker everywhere on the scale compared to the SVR, however the SVR will no doubt have that feeling of space & opulence that the Audi won't have & of course the RS6 really wouldn't appreciate any proper off road activities.

I had a Cayenne Turbo S remapped to around 600bhp. Very Very good car and fast enough, handled well for a big boat, loads of room, comfy and quiet but I could not live with the MPG (doing a fair bit of miles at the time) It was even worse than the V10 RS6 and I did not think that was possible. having a big fast SUV is fun I liked it.
I do fancy the SVR or the X6 M50d, maybe next time @ 49 I am still too young for that yet.

RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy

Range Rovers leave me cold. For the most part it appears to be the default choice for <beep> and arse holes with no imagination.
Have been in several and don't see the draw. Just a big old bus. Interior was nowt special. In short I just don't get it.

Blimmey Doodle thats a bit harsh seeing you have a Macan coming.

Re: RS6 or SVR
That's the wife's!! And it's not a massive bus and for me is a nicer place to be than a RRS. I get the comparison but they aren't in the same market.

Re: RS6 or SVR
I came from a L494 RRS to a RS4 and not for one minute have I regretted it. Granted it wasn't an SVR but it was pretty good for a 3.0 litre diesel. It was the dynamic model and in dynamic mode it handled really well (better than it really should have!)
Doodlebug is right though; they're driven by young kids and meatheads these days. I had mine when it was still a rare sight, but they're everywhere now. That was one of the reasons I got rid of it, the other being that it was massive, ala RS6!
Given the choice though between an SVR and the RS6 I have to admit I think the SVR would be my choice and I think would hold its value a little better too.
But would I change my 4 for an 'ordinary' supercharged RRS? No way!

A friend has an ML63. If I was after an SUV, that's certainly where my money would be going.
Handles very well for a car of that size and height, and makes the best noise.

Re: RS6 or SVR
My wife had the RRS in her sights until I convinced her 3 car seats and dog fit in no problem. The trouble with RRS is that they are driven by sheep following sheep. The RS6 although getting more popular than its predecessor is still a rare gem on the road. Appriciated and driven by true petrol heads and not jumped up posh boys with wee Williams! Re: RS6 or SVR
On a trip to fort William for the Harry Potter train over the glenfinnan viaduct around 7 miles before the green welly I thought I had nothing better to do on a long straight than pass a Range Rover boxster and 2 more cars in my new B8 rs4 what actually happened was the Range Rover pulled out in front of me and I cursed as this mini bus held me up !!!! Only to find I was holding onto his coat tails at numb speeds !! Pulled into the wellie because afore mentioned rover did to ask why there were no overfinch badges to be told it was a standard Range Rover in beknowing of the SVR model googled when I went home to find it was a circa 122k model with ponies and torque in abundance !!! "D" cap for me
Re: RS6 or SVR
one could argue a SVR makes more sense than a RS 6.
an RS 6 is never going to do anything on track.
Whereas a SVR can do everything off road.
I dare say a SVR will have no problem keeping with a RS 6 on the road

Re: RS6 or SVR
I have driven both.
SVR sounds epic and is great car - albeit with odd seats for a SUV (winged sport seats with harness cut outs etc).
RS6 faster and better on the road - by big margin for me. Plus feels less OTT.
I bought the 6. Says it all really (even though my daughter sells Range Rovers).
Would be nice to have both

To be honest DK I wouldn't say he gained an inch over me !! To his surprise ,,,,, and after a theoretical speed of course !!! Of 120 or so I would have pulled closer !!!! However 120 grand for a Range Rover even if I had it I wouldn't I could buy a 6 and a 4 at today's discounted rates and that's before you spec up the SVR
