Looking to buy a RS6 C7 after selling my F10 M5

Hi all.

I've recently sold my F10 M5 as I needed an estate car (blame my German Shep). I drove the X5 5.0d M but felt a little underwhelmed by it...but I suppose I cant compare the 2 cars.

Having always owned BMW's this would be my first Audi. Is there anything in particular I need to look out for when purchasing one? I'm looking to buy around Mid November or just wait for the right car to come up.

I hear that some of these have air suspension is that correct? if so what option is it and what do these cars drive like if I go down that route?

I had my F10 on a stage one map with a turner motorsport exhaust and the AFE air boxes, I would be interested in having the Audi mapped, I have seen Revo's name pop up along with others but unsure who to go for, also what Induction system and exhaust would be best suited, again I seem to read good reviews on the Miltek range.

Sorry for all the questions but this seems to be the best place to get the answers!

Here is a pic of my M5 and my Mark2 Golf Rallye which I have just finished restoring :-)

I look forward to owning a RS6 and getting a few mods under my belt...obviously my german shep will also enjoy them as he can get to the park much quicker lol!

MRC & DMS both do excellent tunes for the C7 RS6.

You're looking in the best place for info so i'm sure you'll get answers to your specific RS6 questions here.

I too have an F10 M5 which is DMS Stage 2 tuned. Had Audi been as generous last year with their offers/discounts on the C7 RS6 as they have been recently then i may have opted for the RS6 having owner a few RS's, but to be honest i'm having so much fun in the F10 M5 (had the E60 M5 a few years ago & didn't like it) that i still feel i made the right choice & i'll be gutted when i change this car which has never happened before.

Hi kavbhamra.

Some nice looking cars you have there. Bit of a shame to get rid of the M5 but I don't think you'll be disappointed with the RS6.

the air suspension comes as standard which is what I have on my car. The DRC suspension which is cross linked shocks with springs comes as part of the dynamic pack.

the car I drove on my first the test drive had the dynamic pack with the DRC suspension. in comfort mode it was spot on took the edge off most ruts and bumps in the road. the dynamic setting was a bit harsh for the road I was driving, it had quite a few ruts and holes. but I'm sure it would come into its own if driven hard on a better road or track.

the second test drive had the air suspension which I went with in the end. in comfort mode its perfect for long motorway trips soaks up the imperfections on the road surfaces nicely and gives a nice comfortable ride. when switched to dynamic it holds the cars considerable weight well through the twisty stuff and allows for some spirited driving when conditions allow. It also lets you raise the height of the car which comes in handy. the lane to my mums house is like a stage of rally GB so I just raise the car and drive up no problem. it will stay raised until 50mph then auto lower or just manually lower it.

I've also got the tow bar as an option. I use it for towing random toys and hopefully a new track day car early next year. the tow bar option is only available with the air suspension.

each to there own though. there are a fair few different options that work great for some people and others wouldn't dream of having them so its all down to how you will use the car and what will benefit you the most day to day.

good luck choosing your new car. :beerchug:

Hi both thanks for reply I have seen some with the dynamic pack so thanks for explaining what that is as I was a bit confused lol so at least I know what it is. I see prices at about 64k upwards so I'll go drive a few as I haven't driven one.

I do miss the F10 M5 was a great car but was just unpractical with the dog as I wouldn't put him in it so I had a caddy van just for that which also got a bit too modded, so I'm trying to keep to 2 cars lol!

I'll keep you posted of what I find, I did see one for sale in the for sale section but that's sold lol! :boohoo:

G60 = :bowdown:

Saw your M5 on the BM scene. You should enjoy the RS6, especially if your are going to start tweaking.
Just make sure you get the spec you want. Any thoughts on colour?

Hi Max...yes I have been in the BM scene for the past 17 years....I'm thinking Black on the RS6 but not too fussed I just want a good spec as in pan roof, HUD, heated front and rear seats LED headlights etc there is one up for 68k at a dealer bit more then what I want to pay so may go in with a cheeky offer as I have no PX and looking for a cash deal.

You'll put yourself in a better leverage position with the dealer if you take up their finance as that's in their bonus and discount structure. You can always pay it off straight away with minimum penalty

I haven't ever taken finance on a car so a little reluctant to do that, maybe worth asking and see what gives me the best deal. The one I have seen is at a non audi dealer so not sure how much movement he is going to give me lol, but if you don't ask you don't get lol

Dynamic pack is not just DRC suspension.
With the current dynamic pack you get:
Dynamic Stering
light and rain sensor and auto dimming rear view mirror
Auid Matrix LED headlights
Sports Diff
Sports suspension with DRC
Top speed increase to 174mph

This changes though, pretty sure last time I looked it was a lot less stuff

Dynamic pack plus gives you;
Same as dynamic pack as well as
Ceramic brakes
Top speed increase to 189mph

Might be a good idea to go to the Audi configurator to give you an idea of the packages / options / combos avaiable.

Bear in mind that if you are looking at a £64k car it will probably be pre-facelift and therefore slightly different to whats on the configurator now.
