RS4(B8) to C7?

Im after a bit of advice from guys who have driven/owned both. I currently have a 2013 RS4 and am getting very tempted by a deal on a new RS6. I'm after thoughts on how differently they handle.
Can i throw the C7 into a corner as hard as the B8? I've just driven back home through some of Scotlands best roads tonight and the B8 seems to be on rails. (A lot of people will say the B7 is better but i have owned both would choose the B8 everyday!)

Ive weighed up all the options on for the Vs game, Cost, Interior/exterior quality etc and im just about swaying to the C7, it was only the drive back tonight that has made me think twice.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Ive just recently picked up my new C7 RS6 after coming out of the B8 RS4 and to me the RS6 is clearly in a different bracket altogether.
The biggest problem I had with the RS4 was that you really had to nail it to get it going and it was all at the top end, the RS6 in comparison is so much quicker and effortlessy fast that the 2 cars are some way apart IMO.

I currently own a B8 RS4 and have test driven a C7 RS6

Where id say the 4 is a B road scalpel. The 6 is a Motorway defibrillator.

I think id run out of talent quickly in the 6 whereas the 4 makes me look good.

I want to say horses for courses but im not sure thats true
If money was no object id have the
But in all honesty, you probably need both, 4 for b roads, 6 for munching miles

Hmm, tough one, but nice decision to have
Definitely drive the 6 first, its brutal

Oli, it all comes down to personal view, I had a B7,B8 and now a C7 ( 6 months old now from new )the B7 was a fantastic car,the B8 left me cold,the C7 is outstanding. Coolness B7=cool, B8 not cool, C7 very cool,believe it or not I am not vain but the attention the C7 here and abroad is embarrassing. Handling B7 outstanding, B8 did not do it for me,C7 not in the same league as the B7, But the C7 is so much faster and I mean really fast,also it is a much bigger car and that does take some getting used to. If you go for it you must get the dynamic package and sports exhaust.cars move on and the C7 is an outstanding car,I wasn't sure before I bought it but now I would never go back. It is strangely a drivers car,see lots of threads on here about torque steer etc,you have to have your wits about you and really drive it,the B8 didn't have that for me, the B7 did. It is ,if driven fast, a violent,exciting,unique car, see also the thread about 0-60 and 0-62 times. way under Audi official 0-62 at 3.9 secs and I believe it. Consumption is no different to the B7 or B8, I regularly go to the Alps and I use very nearly the same amount of petrol in all 3 cars.So there you have it,I completely love the car,loads of space inside,practical if you want it to be,a great family car-good luck with your decision-I would go for it any time now having driven it for 6 months-any specific questions please shout.

Subscribing as this is my next move (or into an RS7). I track my cars so am especially interested in feedback from anyone who came from a B7/B8 but still tracks a C7. :)

The C6 certainly was - it's why I no longer have it! Is it really that bad? :( I was hoping for B8 handling (ish) with C6 power (ish).

It's miles ahead of the C6. But it's still a two tonne barge. It's not for tracks. Buy a Caterham!

Been looking at a cayman GTS actually. Don't tell anyone as I've not come out of the closet yet.

They are gay, but also a good looking and well screwed together thing. I've driven an S, not a GTS, it was OK, but I preferred the 911.

I do not have the testicle size required to drive a 911 hard. Mid-engined maybe. Engine in the wrong place? No chance.

Sorry to go slightly off topic (given this is the C7 forum), but how does the B8 compare space-wise and tech-wise to a 3G C6 avant?

Am currently looking at moving on from the C6 after getting a reasonable part-ex offer, have fallen in love with a C7 nearby on ceramics. Would love to get one and my man-maths calculator is working overtime to justify it, but just not sure I can given the cost (or impending depreciation) right now.

The B8 is right in the right ballpark, but not sure I am ready to give up the space or extra horses.

The B8 is a fantastic car it really is. I do miss the horsepower and sheer grunt of the C6 (but mine was mapped so was very quick indeed), but don't miss the barge like handling in the slightest. The size difference is noticeable, both on the inside and outside, but not in a bad way. Of course, the cabin is slightly more compact (I'd certainly not call it cramped and I'm a big guy) and it doesn't feel as spacious as the C6, but it feels... purposeful. Boot space is a little smaller, but I still cram in 8 sacks of 15kg dog food without thinking or do dump runs without trauma or wishing for more space. Outside, the smaller size is a boon - from parking to how its bulk feels on the road.

Tech wise it's horses for courses - a fully loaded C6 is the same as a fully loaded B8 really - tech is very similar. The electronic wizardry of the handling though makes the B8 rather special, but the cabin electronics are very similar.

Overall I'm very happy with the change. If I could have more power I would but once wound up to speed don't underestimate how capable a car the B8 is. Across country and away from motorways, a B8 is a quicker car than a C6 anyway :)
