New C7 Power upgrade

Post by Griddell6 » Mon Sep 14, 2015 5:53 pm

I bought a new C7 on September 1st and have already fitted an Akrapovic system. However, I am intending having the car remapped and I am considering using DMS Automotive for this.
I'll put 1000 miles on it before I remap it.

Can any owners who have used DMS for a 720+ BHP upgrade vouch for it? Tony @ DMS has said he can assure me 720+ with Akra is possible with regular forecourt super unleaded.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Well I've got a C7 but haven't had the bottle to have it done yet. But what I will say is over the last 12 years my family and I have had over 20 cars done by DMS. All have achieved the results as specified so I would have no doubts about using DMS when I grow some big NUTs.

Ps tell Tony Rob and Darren the Cheung Bros from Brum we said hi. :bigwave:

But....I would also look at MRC who arguably have the most experience with RS product.

MRC are by far the best RS tuning companies in the UK (or worldwide). I'd go to them in a heartbeat and will do so with my RS6 when I get it in Jan. One thing I wouldn't use though is miltek, MRC push them too much, but I personally think the quality is just not there. Go to JCWeldfab for an exhaust and then get MRC to remap it ;)

Do DMS offer a worthwhile warranty on the remaped car?
No matter where you go, there you are.

TBF all our cars that have been remapped none of them have any warranty issues. We never blown any up to have to test the theory. But they have only been remaps apart from a stage 2 on a 2003 330d BMW and stage 2 on a 2007 911 turbo. We've always been assured that if there was a problem they could reinstate the OE map before it goes to the dealer.
I know some of you guys are all techi to this stuff but hands up I ain't got a clue. All I know is that some of our remaps have had a piggie back chip installed into the ecu and all our OE data is stored on DMS databases to be dropped back if and when.
We are just pay and play kinda family.
We don't need full balls out kinda tune to destruction tech.
We just want a little extra and want it to be reliable and for those reasons DMS have never failed.
I suppose from reading this and many other threads about tuning I would probably consider trying MRC if I wanted all the singing and dancing stuff but until then DMS will do.

Thanks for everyones feedback.
It seems DMS is a safe bet, but perhaps worth taking a peek at others just to make sure I'm getting the best bang for the buck.

100% go the DMS route.

Have used the guys on several of my cars & if i owned any car they had code for they'd be my only choice.

Currently running a DMS Stage 2 tune on my F10 M5 (Rob used my car to develop this tune) & i'm running 748bhp & 700lbsft with a top speed delimit.

The car is phoenominal & lol quick :drink:

Just curious, who underwrites? i.e. what happens if DMS or a/n/other go belly up?

I'd imagine they would have to have in place an insurance backed guarantee that would cover there customers claims in the event they were to go bust.

Then there's just the question of who finding a company to carry out the required repairs under the insurance claim. by the look of things the options of a decent company would be very limited.

I doubt DMS will go belly up. Rob spends a lot of time in the Emirates dealing with the real big players so doubt very much funds will ever go short.

This question always seems to arise about who pays what and what warranty issues would occur. But no one seems to have asked " has anyone with a mapped car that was in warranty ever blew up and had to go down the warranty route??? "

I can't recall which insurer underwrites the Warranty, just that it is. Q&A below from last year.

DMS still provide a warranty on their tunes?

Yes, fully underwritten and a software warranty that includes unlimited
callouts for three years.
