First impressions

What started off as set-off early sat morn pick car up and be back for tea sat night ended up a day and a half due to Glastonbury traffic; Goodwood traffic; five sets of roadworks; a dodgy services butty, leading to dodgy guts and 2 accidents!

Anyway journey from Preston to Bournmouth took about 8 hours, all in my c6 rs6. Just love that car. Took on 3 superbikers and once again shocked them due to the stage 2 tune. Never saw another c6 rs6 in 8 hours. Avg 20mpg

Journey home (after a forced stop-over)
First impressions were like the looks and interior. Thought it had advanced key but was just keyless go which I am cheesed off with but too late (really, really miss advanced key)
The drive - feels much smaller than the c6 and dynamically is much, much better. Ceramic brakes are fantastic.
Power of the car...Mmm disapointed really. I suppose I had been spoilt with the c6 stage 2 tune but didn't realize it was that much more powerful. I know you shouldn't compare tuned to stock. But the mid-range of the c7 is nowhere near the c6 tune-even with a superior gearbox. Although due to gearbox the standing sprint is pretty good.
Journey home took 5 hours and I saw 5 c7 rs6's plus 2 rs7's!
Noise- have sports exhaust which is quite good, but for me needs to be louder so will be purchasing a milltek
Fuel consumption much better-averaged 25.6mpg over circa 300 miles doing between 50 and 85mph with a couple of higher speed quick blasts.
Struggled to keep a golf r at bay, didn't bother when a focus rs wanted a play.

Will need to live with it a while to make a complete verdict, but mixed feelings at the moment

What's the difference between advanced key and keyless go?

Keyless go is standard with a start button.
Advanced key allows you to lock and unlock the car without activating the keyfob.

The C6 is brute
Ive had a C7 whilst the C6 is in for some work and boy do I miss it.
C7 chassis - agree is so much more dynamic and easier to drive. Gadgets and modern dash is brill too.
But its gutless, and way too light at high speeds, whereas the C6 wont even flinch at triple digits.

It deffo needs a stage 1 and a zorst, but still would have its work cut out to match the mighty V10.

That's no good lol if it struggles to keep a golf R at bay even if tuned. When I get mine I won't be happy  , my cars being built this week does that make it MY 2016 whether or not there's any actual differences.

:boohoo: If only there was a way to actually try out a car before you purchase it...oh hold on a minute, I think they call it a TEST drive...probably never catch on though...

Surely something was wrong not saying your driving or car but no chance would the R stay up with the 6 Tuned or not. Just had a chat with a mate with a pretty well tuned golf r more than just a map and filters, and he said low down might be close ish, but still he said a 6 demolished his R in a straight line few times launch rolling and 100+. Kinda reassures me now  .

Because we all drive at 100+mph all the time.

This is the modern world problem that so many cars can nowadays hook up a decent (automated) launch & basically be within 1/2-1 second of each other off the line, which in the real world is next to nothing & only takes a sneeze to lose. Where real grunt comes into effect is only deployable on track, a runway or the Autobahn so in the UK kind of redundant.

So until well into treble figures, i'd fully expect most cars North of 350bhp to be able to hang with a car that's 200bhp more powerful, but 1/2 ton heavier.

Also agree with W8PMC.

Just bought a Golf R as a runabout/DD... bored sick of my son's Corsa! Nice little car noticeably slower than the 911TTS but no slouch at all (no tune, 300bhp). I remember overtaking a Honda Type R years ago with my old M6. Very long straight road. The guy I was overtaking gunned his car. Despite what was probably a 300bhp deficit it took me at least a mile to overtake! It's embarrassing really.

The golf was behind me coming onto the A34. I kept the c7 to about 50 and then gunned it. Got to just under a ton and noticed he was not getting left behind so slowed down, he then passed.

Ask your self " can the golf get four bulk bags in the back and still go as quick?" Answer. " NO"
