Sepang or Nardo and Dealer Discounts?

Post by Leo-RS » Tue Mar 17, 2015 3:11 pm

Hi guys, last week I placed an order for a Sepang RS6 with the black look (High gloss black pack/mirrors/21" black wheels and Privacy)

I know the below has the Carbon pack rather than the high gloss black but thought the Sepang blue really comes to life in this pic and it was this pic that persuaded me to go down the Sepang path..

However, it can also look very plain in other lights... (I realise the 1st pic below is of someone else's car from here, if you want me to remove I will, I'm just trying to picture the blue in different light situations)

Dare I say it, Sepang is also becoming a very common Audi colour too, the Sepang and black theme is already been done to death through the entire range from the A1 all the way upto the A6. I'm not sure if Sepang really suits the RS6 length when I see it from the side view in the pic above.

My order is not locked down yet and I have been thinking about changing the colour to Nardo... (Apologies if I am pinching pictures from anyone)

On an RS7...

Again though, in different lights....

I'm trying to convince myself that Sepang is too common now and not special enough to be a stand out RS6 colour? The Nardo on the other hand is unusual, it's uncommon and I think it does suit the RS6 length.

:nogarors4: vs :greyrs4:

Delivery not expected until 1st September but I have a couple of weeks to lock down my order and although I have specced Sepang, it really is 50/50 and not sure if I should swap it to Nardo? I would be interested to hear from others, particularly Sepang and Nardo owners and whether they regret either choice?

With regards to discount, I have managed to negotiate a 13.7% discount off the cost of the car. I'm not sure how that compares with what others have managed but I'm very happy with that level of discount, there's a lot of car there for the money

For what it's worth, I find the Nardo looks very different in the flesh than in Photos, but I think it suits the shape well as long as you have the black styling pack, not the silver (which i see you've specced anyway)
Good dilemma to have anyway ;)

Discount level is fine, i achieved slightly more, but not a lot, like 15% but didn't pull the trigger in the end

Colour wise its subjective, but i wouldn't worry about how many are around, get the one you want to look at every day.

There is a reason sepang is popular and its because (imho) its a fantastic choice. .

Well I'm bias so I'm not going to be much help here. I can only offer one comment in relation to this. I borrowed an RS5 Cab in Nardo Grey from the dealer back in September as the dealer was swamping the tracker over in my car and I had it for 24hrs. I think Nardo looks OK but everybody who saw the car though it looked battleship grey and I received no positive comments. Also the paint will give up to swirl marks unless you really keep on top of it.

If your stuck between the two try and go and see the colours in the flesh and make you decision on that. A lot of colours look so difference in the flesh to what they look like on pictures.

But in the end its your choice so you should have what you want not what everybody else thinks. Either way, you will be to busy driving it to notice :bigblink:

Although there's a few in here, the chance of you seeing another on the road are very slim

Very tough choice, Sepang isn't on A1 models (only the S1). They've just launched it on the Black Edition A4 models which will come with black grilles/v spokes and be everywhere in the next few months... I don't believe it has been on any non S/RS actually so you must have seen the odd exclusive car?

Leo - FWIW, I hear your dilemma. I nearly went for a Nardo car earlier in the month, but ultimately the spec wasn't what I wanted. The car needs black optics all over, including the 21's IMO. See the pics below, these are all of the same car. I'm not even sure if Nardo suits the FL RS6 at the moment. Its' odd!!

Having said that, if the badges were black also, then I think it has a fighting chance. I saw a Nardo RS6 in Chelsea last year, with Black Optics as I describe. That car had presence. If that is what you're looking for then I think Nardo is the way to go. In my opinion, too many Sepangs would put me off also.

Have a look - hopefully it helps....

Sepang is very nice but lacking the uniqueness as it is becoming more popular but yeah it's look stunning. I'd go for Nardo with black optics or CF packs. Different, unique and still looks good. I used to hate it when Nardo first came out but it grows on me. TBH, I think any colour would look better than my, now, cum white C7. So you can't lose whichever way you go. Enjoy the painful 5.5 mths wait. Hahaha.

I would do what I've done to my car, remove rear rings and replace badges with carbon ones, also replace front rings with carbon, then chuck a set of deep dish wheels on in matt black :beerchug:

Exactly that, a Nardo car with black pack and priv glass would look really good with Carbon rings/badges
Personally, I really like the black cut standard option 21" wheels too

I've spent hours and hours looking through the pics on autogespot. Never known a car that's harder to choose colour combinations. Just when you think you've decided, you see another pic where that colour doesn't look so good.

also, which dealers doing 13-15%?

In reality discount is 3k AUK finance contribution plus whatever you can get from the dealer, starting at another 3k.

I think I'd choose Nardo with black optics if I was in that position but I really do like Sepang. What about Noggy? As seen here: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=114165
