RS6 size

Haven't test driven the car yet but do have a slight concern over the size of it and how it is to live with day to day, when you look at the dimensions and compare it to other big cars (cayenne's, x6 etc) it's differently a lot bigger than it looks. Anyone purposely avoid multi storey's, drive thru's etc because of the size and lwb?

There is no doubt that the RS6 is a long car. I was aware of this when I spec'd the car so included the Top View camera option. In addition to the usual graphical representation of the signals from the parking sensors and the beeps, this system gives a 360 degree live camera view. I find the static red line that the system superimposes on the front or rear live views to be particularly useful- more so than the beeps and icons. For instance when parking in our local supermarket (away from everyone else of course!) I am able to precisely place the front or rear of the car within the parking bay. The bays are monobloc- roads are tarmac- system allows me to align the red line (superimposed as above) on the margin between the monobloc and tarmac. The static lines have been very well calibrated as the front/rear extremities of the car end up within the bay - e.g the front "splitter" is within about 5 cm of the limit of the parking bay.
There is a multi-storey car park in Glasgow that I had been avoiding due to the numerous tight turns and selfish parkers (4x4s park in bays adjacent to parking level "on/off" ramps hanging their rear ends out making things very tight sometimes). I was in there a few weeks ago with the RS6 and found it much easier than I had anticipated. Top view really helped. I like to park on the top floor- usually quieter and away from the crowds-so quite a lot of tight turns to get there. I used
VCDS to increase the parking system switch off speed so I don't have to crawl around every turn to keep the system active (it would be better still if it would stay active at all times but I think 20kmh(mph?) is the current limit)
I had an A4 avant before and it is really only when you get out of the RS6 that you are aware of how long it is...if that makes any sense. On the few occasions that my wife has driven the car she has found it to be easy to drive around town and easy enough to park. She also rates the top view camera system and prefers it over the graphical "only" one she has in her Q5. Top view might not be the answer for everyone but it works for us.

A great feature & one i now feel is a must have on larger cars. Rave about it on my car as i like to park centre of a bay & now don't have to hang out of the door to execute a perfect park.

I avoid multi storey car parks anyway and I'm the one parked in the far corner of the car park at the supermarket. It's is a big car but you kind of get used to it

I drive the RS6 in HK a lot and you could imagine the parking spots are pretty tiny here, some carparks are nail bitingly dodgy too. So far, fingers crossed, I haven't had any issue with 90% of the carparks here. So if I can drive it here in HK, am sure you will have no issues driving it anywhere in the UK right?
