waiting list for ceramics....?

Post by GLM » Mon Aug 11, 2014 12:51 pm

hi - just wondering if anyone else has placed an order for a new C7 to be spec'd with ceramics and been told the allocation for this year has used up....?

i placed my order back on March 31st and was told that i would be notified of the build slot shortly and that i should have the car within 6months - after chasing and chasing i have finally been told today that the factory have confirmed that the allocation of ceramics on the C7 has been used up and my build slot will now be Q1 2015. The initial salesman was little more than useless and has since moved on so the above is what is coming from the new chap.

i find this quite incredible if true - anyone else having similar issues on new orders or am i being told its raining whilst the salesman pi$$es in my pocket?

Sounds odd!

Have you asked another dealer or Audi UK?

Just waiting for a call back from another salesman at another dealer and also raised it with Audi UK to try and get more details...

A build slot for Q1 2015 sounds very dodgy, I would expect them to be building the facelift by then, and there will no doubt be changes to the options too (led matrix lights for example).

Sounds to me like the dealer hasn't got any more allocation and they are giving you the runaround.

GLM, exactly why I cancelled my order... Ordered around the same time as you and then messed about... Very poor service for such a high cost vehicle...

I had similar on my current rs4 order. Ceramics meant at least six months as the manufacturer used by VAG is way over capacity with increased Audi, Bentley and Porsche orders.
It was suggested that perhaps Bentley and Porsche get priority on orders too, so until my rs4 arrives what will now be late sept, I'm still sceptical of further delays
Was told new car orders with ceramics would be jan minimum now

Yep - annoying but seems the case. Dealer said if I loose the ceramic option, then I'd prob get the car late q3/early q4 this year now, but keeping with the ceramics as the car is due to be a keeper.

Apparently, a build slot won't be confirmed until they are 100% confident of hitting that date to complete the build (- which I find hard to believe given some of the delays and slippage people tend to experience).

In the meantime, the build isn't locked in, so if the order book opens for the face lift prior to mine getting a build slot, then I'll flip the order and wait for another couple of months - seems pointless getting the last one off the current production line.
Hopefully I can try and get some free servicing or such like out of Audi, but won't hold my breath.

GLM wouldn't worry about facelift personal choice really but going off the RS7 facelift i preferred pre facelift dont like the shape design of new lights.

But the only time those lights will be on is when you are in it so you won't see them. Switched off, the clusters are the same shape.

But the led light shape currently will disappear no ?. As in DRLs will change if they are the same but only different when on full lights at night I don't mind but I don't think thats the case. If its correct what you're saying great but if not nahh not for me just personal preference. But elaborate on this shah because my only real concern with facelift hahaha.

As we know now, its not just ceramics.. its any order which has not been allocated a factory build day :audibash:

No, you are right, I think. It very much appears that the DRL bars do change shape for MY15 - sadly, they go from the stunning lower brow line to a rather bland arrow configuration. In return, though, you get to specify Matrix LEDs that should vastly out-perform the current LED lights and, at the end of the day, on a performance car, being able to see as much of the roadway as possible is crucial - especially as Matrix lights provide active lighting into bends (driven by SatNav data and steering angle). For me, that's a huge plus that is worth losing the DRL shape for.
