Guaranteed Future Value?

Post by Rich_C » Mon Jul 28, 2014 9:35 pm

Purely out of curiosity what guaranteed future value are people being quoted on finance schemes? The used/ex demo car prices barely seem to have moved in the last 3 or 4 months and I was wondering if this was reflected in future value forecasts. I would ask my local Audi stealership but as no one including the sales manager could RS'd to call me back today even though I called 3 times :audibash: I thought I'd defer to you knowledgeable chaps instead.

Ultimately I'm happy with my lowly C6 for the foreseeable especially if I go down the MRC route but the allure of spec'ing "my own" car rather than the usual comprise of fishing the used market in a couple of years time certainly appeals. In reality although I could talk myself into buying a new car my austere Northern upbringing means I simply can't stomach £50k in depreciation especially when I convert that into the equivalent of hours worked. :boohoo: ... now where's me whippet and flat cap!

I took a pre ordered car, spec came to 89k, i got 16k off inc the 3k Audi contribution. The GFV is 41k after 3yrs 8000 miles a year. It would be nice if the current reviews of the new RS 4 and 6 had the same impact on the residuals as it did on the last generation cars. Or more likely the new rs4 wont hold such strong money down the line? It will depend how many are sold really, would be interesting to know how many C6 rs6 went out in the first yr compared to the c7?

interesting so a good few more C6's went out in the first yr than C7's if i am reading it correctly. When did the last few C6's get registered? I will have a 64 plate car, but i am assuming that there was no 2011 production so i can only compare to a 10 plate so its hard to know really...

Thanks for the reply. I was quite surprised with £41k GFV. I had expected something in the low £30k's. A £30k drop over 3 years although not desirable is still pretty palatable all thanks to that healthy purchase discount  . Do you think you got that much off the price because it was a pre-order or is that level of discount to be expected? Having never bought a new premium brand car :boohoo: I wouldn't have expected anywhere near that level of discount. How hard did you have to push the dealer?

Re: Guaranteed Future Value?obtained a similar level of disc

Post by Chesterfield » Tue Jul 29, 2014 10:58 pm

Obtained a similar level of discount on a factory order car with list price of £92k. Printed off an online car brokers quote, asked my local dealer if they could get near it, and they did.

Some brands you can get a discount, some its like trying to pull hens teeth.

No deals what so ever to be wrung out of land rover on the new vogue or sport. Some exotic dealers will be open to haggling, some won't shift a penny depending on brand.

The old saying is "if you don't ask, you don't get". :)

The on line car broker is a very nice bargaining tool did the same thing with my wife's S3 and my local Audi dealer matched it

I have a good friend who is currenlty 'overseeing' a few Audi dealerships so he cut out any of the usual crap and offered me the deal. Its a very skinny margin left for them and also got the Cobra tracker thrown in and first service.

Once again thanks for all the quick replies - I wish I had friends like yours!!!

Well my local steelers eventually returned my call. Bad news is they are not quoting anywhere near the GFV above - early £30k's as I expected - apparently it is set by Audi so they have no say in the value. The good news is that they've offered to give me their demonstrator for the day mid August which was a bit of unexpected surprise. It will be interesting to compare to my trusty C6. I don't see me being tempted away from the old girl just yet as the numbers are too strong for me to stomach but is defo a future purchase.

The question is by accepting a test drive am I already giving in to temptation? I hope not as I'm just waiting on diary slots from MRC to tune my C6 which is likely to be around the same time I get the C7 demonstrator. I can't imagine that conversation going well with the missus!

Any ex C6 owners regret the jump across to the newer model?

My GFV was set by Audi... Are they basing this on a base price car? What is the period and mileage?

My OTR is 90,500, I was told that they expect the new RS6 to lose 47% in the first 3yrs.....based on 8k per year. So the 41k seems about right. I have another audi quote over 48 months on a car with OTR 78,500, GFV 30k, sound to me they are basing this on 48months for you? See below.... this quote had only 6.5% discount applied. I got nearly double that.

Well I spec'd up my ideal car not going mad on the options and sent it off to the sales girl/lady as she was keen to give me a quote in the same format as above ...

£90,267 List Price
less £ 6,000 centre contribution
less £20,000 customer deposit
£73,639 balance to pay

£824.75 per month for 48 months
£34,176 final payment on month 49

An interesting exercise and I look forward to getting the car for a play for the day but can't see me living the dream of speccing my own ... just too pricey for my austere northern blood :boohoo: The combined monthly payment and depreciation would far out strip my mortgage payment which just ain't going to happen. A C7 is certainly in my future just not for a few years. I'll dampen the sales girl/ladies enthusiasm on Monday and hope they let me still have the demonstrator for the day.

On the plus side booked myself into MRC to give my C6 a new spring of life which should keep me interested for a 18 months at least.

Thanks for all the input  - greatly appreciated and rest assured I'll be admiring the front end of your C7's should we ever pass.
