Rattle from the HUD area.

Just thought I'd let people know of a problem and fix for a slight but quite annoying rattle I experienced with my RS6.
The rattle - which was really more of a clicky plastic against plastic noise - came seemingly either from the left of the HUD unit or possibly from the dash itself in the same vicinity. I only really heard the noise in the morning going downhill over a rough tarmac road or on odd occasions on other rough tarmac roads. The noise rarely occurred once the car had warmed up.
I got some advice from Audi Stafford where I'd purchased the car and they said that they had heard a small number of similar reports from customers with HUDs fitted. Their workshop had fixed the problem using Audi "tape" under the HUD.
Because the noise didn't often occur once the car was warm I took a recording of it to show to Audi Doncaster (which is a lot nearer to me). In the end Audi Doncaster resolved the problem within an hour by removing the HUD bezel and fitting the tape. I haven't heard the noise since then (over a week ago).
I should point out that the service and response of from both dealerships was excellent.

He has the M5.. so it probably won't..

I think W8MPC's comment was thinly veiled sarcasm
@Doodle You have it in for the Audi HUD!.. Although your "Heath Robinson told you so" was effectively true in one aspect at least. However the HUD is still a "must have" for me and the Audi version is functionally
almost as good as the BMW version. The bulge is a very small sacrifice to pay for it.
As an aside.. I'm loving the car so far. I still have some "M5 habits" still though.. I think I've only floored it once because I'm still feathering the pedal! I just constantly expect for the back end to slide and lose grip or step out.. but it never happens because I never lose grip!
I've written a massive comparison review but I'm not happy with it.. too bloody long for starters.

W8's HUD won't rattle as it's been sent packing!
I can live without the HUD, I really don't like the unit, and then there's the special windscreen.

Was tongue in cheek, although still a feature where BMW excel as i'm guessing they've been doing HUD for longer. Did have the Audi variant in a long term loan S6 last year & although functionally OK, it doesn't have the equivalent of the M features & is a tad unsightly bulging out from the top of the dash, however a small price to pay for what is i believe a must have feature nowadays:)
Was costing up RS6's this morning at my local dealer but i fear although deals are about now, they're still far from attractive enough:(

Dealer offered 8% to a friend yesterday with conquest? I think is £2k and some other offer £3k.
Makes them attractive, if you didnt already have one.
Why would you need HUD? Seriously I cannot understand at all, please enlighten me.
Cheers

Once you get used to a HUD it is a pain going without one really, you feel like you are taking your eyes off the road for too long when glancing down at the revs or speed. The HUD just puts things right in front of you and once you get used to it you can basically see your speed, and what the speed limit is without really looking at all.
I do miss the gear change indicator on the M5 (when in M mode). There is (apparently) a flashing indicator on the HUD with the RS6 but I've yet to see it. I think I need to be in Lap mode to get it to appear but I keep forgetting to set it.
EDIT:
Well I've seen and used it now, lap timer needs to be selected. Not as good as the M5 version but useable. I have to anticipate the gear change more in the RS6. Whilst the changes are smoother they are generally slower than in the M5/6.
