C8 RS6 finally revealed
Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
How much more is a C8 S6 than the C7 S6?
Edit; A quick search looks like it went from £53k to £63k. No way the RS6 is only going to be a few grand more than C7.
That makes it about an 18% increase. A simialr percentage increase on the RS would make it £92k.

Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
I guess only time will tell on pricing........though what was interesting was he said that C7' prices were solid at the moment and they, well Mon Motors, found that their used 6's didn't hang around long on the forecourt. We discussed the RSQ8 and his opinion was that it was going to be a difficult sell....they have 2 firm orders (maybe 3

Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
My dealer has two high spec launch cars, one of which is mine (hopefully spec changeable as I definitely want ceramics and matte paint) with November build slots- so realistic Jan delivery.

Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
Have just confirmed my order - well a holding deposit pending the specs being released. Have really missed my RS6 since others decided they wanted it more !! Cant find anything I would like more that ticks all the boxes including space for 2 dogs !! Just wish the timetable was shorter for delivery
Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
Hmm, a number of things I don't like about this compared to my C7. Interior's the main thing. I'm an analogue kind of guy and I like the interaction I have with my car: the high-end, watch-like instruments (I favour a Bremont over a G-Shock), the hefty (auto) gear shift with metal that is warm when the sun is out or ice cold in mid-winter, that almost clunks when moving to drive; an overall 'warmth' and personality to the interior, the tactility of manipulating knurled knobs rather than a nasty touchscreen. C7 whispers class, C8 shouts TECHNOLOGY.
As to the outside, it's all a bit much. The C7 is subtly menacing without being too in your face. The C8 is visually shouty about its capabilities. I like the side view and the pumped arches, but the front and rear are too laboured and obvious in an attempt to be aggressive and differentiate it from the boggo models, no-one will need to ask if it's a RS6. It's rather like a McLaren 720 vs. a Senna, effective but lacking entirely in subtlety, albeit in Audi's case for visual impact rather than aero efficiency.
I'd have one for sure if some low-life stole my C7 or wrote it off, but I'd rather spend £60K to keep the systems of mine in fine fettle, and maybe a Litchfield upgrade once the warranty is through, than change to a C8.
Oh, and all the 6.7% increase in torque (from 553 to 590 lb-ft) does is counteract the 7% (140kg) increase in weight. It will be interesting to see if a car mag can run a C7 & 8 in a side-by-side test at some point. Maybe a forthcoming Performance variant will address the torque:weight issue, but for now, for me, the C7 is still 'king', if by a whisker.
Overall for me even the C7 is a little too much tech, the C8 is a step too far. Might be my next car is a restomod '67/8 Dodge Charger with a 528... (once the kids have flown the nest).

Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
Good points, but I remember C6 owners saying the very same about the C7 - they thought it "shouty", underpowered (and a mere V8) and too techy.RC135W wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 4:30 amHmm, a number of things I don't like about this compared to my C7. Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
It just needs the right colour choice for that wavy aluminium bit in the rear.... Feels a bit Merc to me in silver.
Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
It has a 14% increase in torque. Even the Performance model only produces 750nm when overboosting so a standard figure of 800nm means 100nm more torque most of the time. Of course all this depends on what figure it actually produces. The standard non performance actually had about 775nm and the Performance on overboost had about 880nm. How much will the C8 actually have?RC135W wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 4:30 am

Also, all the articles I have read says the C8 is 60kg lighter than the C7.

Re: C8 RS6 finally revealed
Having driven several new A6's and A8's with the interior gloss black touch screen, I really don't like them. One journey, and it's full of fingerprints which really detract from the appearance its trying to portray. I'd rather hoped the new RS6 would have had a satin or matt finish to try to resolve the fingerprint issue.
My other dislike is the gear lever - I prefer a definite gear lever position. When I want reverse, I like to move it into the R position, and I want to engage park, I 'd like to move it into the P position, not pressing a P button. I don't like it reverting to its default position after each gear selection. Its fiddly to use, in my opinion.
I also hope the engine Start / Stop button is 'in easy reach' - latterly some models need a great stretch to press it......
Like RC135W, I prefer knobs to touch screens, a 'proper' speedo and rev counter rather than the digital virtual dash - perhaps the dinosaur coming out of me, but I still have my B8 RS4, and still wouldn't consider changing it for the B9 for very similar reasons (the V8 was a big part as well).
I've always been a great admirer of the C7, and at the moment, will be for the foreseeable future. The C8 has no doubt got a lot of superb attributes, but.....
