Excuse my ignorance, but long winded how? If a car with outstanding finance is being sold on a sale or return basis surely this would be the only way to do it? I understand that if the finance was with an unheard of company this would be much more dubious, but if I am receiving confirmation from Audi that the finance is cleared, what else could be dodgy?

Even so, I'd still have expected dealer to have sorted financials so you pay them.

Can't make a CHAPS payment until Monday, settlement same day but Audi likely wouldn't confirm this until next day.

Settle with Audi direct and pay dealer diff. Fine

But you need to have written copy of the SOR agreement between seller and dealer to be sure dealer has write to pass title, as title sits with the current owner (once finance paid off) and whilst in 99/100 times everything is fine

Get copy of finance agreement settlement letter also

And tbh, just phone the current owner direct and agree a deal £2k under dealer price and buy it private !!! ;)

Thanks for all advice. I think I am now well equipped to potentially make the deal, or not as the case may be. If I do go ahead I have a 400 mile drive home, so that will be thorough road test, and hopefully a fun drive. I feel the car is well priced and it has near enough exact spec I would have chosen had I been buying new. It also has warranty & service pack until April 2019, which is a big bonus. I will check back in on Tuesday with or without a new (to me) C7.....

This is the correct and honest way of doing it.

If the dealer took it into stock then you would have to put it through the books with VAT and other things.
If the dealer does a commission only then the finance remains with Audi. This is just the way it is.
As long as you get the confirmation from Audi yourself and not through a proxy (who could lie) then thats great.

Speak to Audi/VWFS and get the details yourself and make certain it all lines up.

So, after a bad start with the Belfast C7, I flew to Glasgow and picked this up today. I am very pleased with it, MUCH better than the first attempt, DRC is night and day better than the air. Had a 400 mile drive back, so gave the car a proper test, and can't fault it. The service from Carrera Specialist Cars was extremely professional and smooth. Hopefully I can start to enjoy C7 ownership now! Image

Great news! Certainly a good shakedown trip back! I haven't driven a car on air but DRC is certainly very good for a car of this size. Shame the air sits slightly lower though, you would think the sport option would be the lower ride hight.

I found the air felt totally different, and not as stable. Loving the black optics, looks much better in my opinion. It's debagded though, can't decide whether or not I like it. Going to have to mull it over the next few days....

Vesta that looks superb. From all the stuff on this chat that car sounded really promising and I hope this is 'the one'- grey and black trim looks great. All the best.

The car has a tracker thing (think it's cobratrak) so you have to have a little fob with the key in order for the car to work. I want to get rid of this. What's the easiest way?
