Ceramics for the win for me! I have had steels in the past. Ok-pedal feel may not be just as good at cold compared to steels but not bad at all. The additional fantastic part is they keep the wheels so clean!

Here is a quick video of how ceramic brake discs are manufactured;

Very impressive manufacturing process! No wonder they are so expensive!

Do I really need ceramics?

What effect will the dynamic plus pack have on residual prices? What should I expect to get over a standard car or standard dynamic pack without ceramics?
(With a view to change at 3 years old)

Little or nothing on the residual, though I would expect slightly higher money on a private sale.

Off topic but best extra for residuals if you are planning at selling after 3 years is the extended warranty - around £500 for 4th year. Great aid to private sale and much cheaper than it will cost you to extend later.

Definitely, already in my list. TBH I'm really trying to justify the ceramics but I'm struggling. I'm just not sure they will be worth it. There have been very good arguments for and against but nothing that has definitively made my mind up!

Not that much cheaper though.....

I had it on the RS3, added bugger all value.

Consider the following:

- your penis will measure an extra 7".
- because racecar.
- blondes with large tits will want your babies.
- you will never lose another argument (except in the "do I really need ceramics thread").
- you'll automatically become world champion at any video game.
- any man in any pub anywhere will give up their stool for you without you having to ask.
- you'll go to heaven by default.
- your own theme music will play whenever you walk.
- your phone battery will always read 99%.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Probably the most convincing argument of the threadImage

Aye, but selling a 3 year old RS6 privately without any warranty might be trickier. And it will cost around £2k for vendor or buyer to put one at that point. I reckon it is the only extra that pays for itself. Would I pay £500 more for a 3 year old RS6 with full Audi warranty versus one with none - in a private sale. Hell yes :)

Nah, not 2k. Extension through Audi will be a grand give or take.

I rang Audi warranty to ask and they quoted £2050 for 4th year extension bought once car delivered. £550 if done before registration :?:
Mind you, wouldn't be the first time Audi got it wrong.

Sounds like they were making it up.

It was less than a 1k for C6, it's not going to have doubled, unless this is the VAG wheeze to balance the books.

I was told it was going to be circa £600 for a 4th year on my B8 if I chose to extend it after year 3 rather than take it up front when I bought the car
However, that was the current price, and as you can't extend the warranty until 3 months before the 3yrs expire, the price may change, but can't see it being by too much, even given Audi's rather inconsistent economic forecasting

Given that my B7 was around £1k for a 5th year warranty when I had it, I can't see the C7's being much more than £1k for a 4th year
