2016 it is then, however there may be a new RS 5 by then, which should be epic if it wants to compete with the upcoming M4 and C63.
2014: 8V S3, Scirocco (mistake)
2013: B8 RS 5, 3.0T S5 coupe, B8 S5 cab - temp, B8 S4 avant
2011: 2.0T FL Octavia VRS
2010: 1.8T Octavia VRS

Agreed although they aren't as good as Porsche who only import 7k cars in total into the UK per year (according to sales men inside and outside of Porsche) which keeps residuals and new prices pretty high.

I have absolutely no idea what kind of numbers of RS6 C7s are coming into the UK but several dealers gave me a delivery date of May to June when I enquired about a new RS6 C7 in early November. Fortunately (for me) I happened on a dealer who had already ordered one and was still just able to change the spec of at least some key options. A six month plus waiting list makes me *think* that the cars are selling well even if it is because they have simply supplied them in low numbers!

Despite a good discount comparable to the one I received when I purchased my current pre-reg M5 I expect significant depreciation and would be pretty foolish to expect otherwise!

The comments on the interior looks of these cars are interesting. I found the new RS6 to be pretty stunning inside but a lot of that impression came from the fact that the carbon inlays look fantastic (imo) and the honeycomb contrast stitching really stands out. To sit in the car seemed quite different to the M5 and I wouldn't say overall that one is really better than the other. I did find the standard seats in the RS6 a little harder than the M5 and overall the RS6 felt a bit "sportier".

I've no doubt they're selling well enough, but the lead time is build restriction not high volume of sales. As i said before, Audi always do this with RS's as it keeps demand & early residuals artificially high which is why ex-demo cars still price high but after say 12-18mths the residual free fall that all these cars attract kicks in.

My frustration & confusion is why Audi see fit to operate this way whilst BMW & Merc have taken the decision to get their Premium models out on the road. I prefer to feel i've got a good overall financial deal & Audi were not even in the game let alone playing it. I'd guess that BMW & Merc are currently selling 4:1 M5's & E63's to Audi RS6's & whilst this can be seen in different lights, when push came to shove whichever car you prefer & for whatever reason i couldn't pay almost double for a same OTR price car & be happy so chose the M5. My decision was based on common & financial sense as i didn't even bother pitching the cars side by side to compare when the deals were being discussed.

Just spotted you have a MY12 F10 M5? In the LCi model i believe minor changes were made to the M-DCT & Rear Diff as well as the car now coming from the factory with MPSS tyres as standard. Were quite a few smaller cosmetic, software & a few items that were previously options are now standard. I doubt this will make much of a difference but i've not driven an earlier F10 so couldn't compare.

Looking forward to hearing about your incoming RS6:)

Audi are not bothered about C7 RS volume in the UK.

They sell <beep> loads more A1's and A3's... as BMW and Merc don't have equivalents (maybe 1series/A class, but still thousands of units behind), so if Merc and BMW want to keep pace with Audi's sales vols (and its all about keeping face) they need to blow their brains on their other models

It will change, if the motherland decide it wants to shift some...then the UK will ask for factory support, then they'll ship em out for pennies like BMW

W8PMC, you seem to be justifying to yourself why you bought an M5 over a C7 in every other reply you post!

You don't reckon BMW sell <beep> loads of 3 Series?? I've no idea if they sell more/less 3's than Audi do A3's but i would be confident the like for like figures between the 2 manufacturers are virtually identical, especially given both brands model spread nowadays which is basically too many & becoming diluted.

As far as i'm concerned, it's the top models that folk aspire to so Audi is missing a trick by limiting build numbers of the RS6 as it's a £75k car like any other £75k car & the RS6 will fair no better or worse in terms of residuals so it seems pointless the Audi follow this policy. Also not even the case that the RS brand name is a rarity now Audi have the RS3/4/5/6/7/TT. Same applies to BMW & Merc though.

That made me chuckle :beerchug:

I don't think i've ever never needed to justify a purchase & hope i'll never be in a position where i need to. The M5 is by far the better acquisition financially as Audi wanted close to double for the RS6 which makes the RS terrible value, plus to be like for like spec wise i'd have needed to chuck an extra £5k at the RS. Is the RS6 better is debatable as it has its strengths & weaknesses, but pound for pound the M5 is certainly as good & that coming from someone who's been Audi loyal for over 15yrs.

If Audi hadn't been so stubborn in their value expectation for the RS then that's probably what would likely be sat in my garage, in the main because it's a good car & secondly better the devil you know, but not because it's better/worse than the M5 as they both offer very different solutions to the going fast problem;)

As said, it's a nice decision to have :jump:

John Smith aspires to drive an Audi because of the R8 on Iron Man or it making noise on a dyno in the ad break of Coronation Street....not because an RS 6 went past them on the motorway.

Really?? I think the man in the street (or woman) aspires to a more achievable vehicle such as an RS as that's seen as the top of the range in each specific model (3,4,5,6,7 & TT) Agree the R8 is an aspirational car but i think less realistic to the man in the street who has a wife/kids etc. I'm no Marketing Guru though so perhaps it is the R8.

I always aligned the A3 as the A4's hatchback brother as always thought both cars were built on the same platform but i guess with the A3 ragtop & new A3 Saloon, the A3 has matured into it's own model range. I believe BMW sell more 3 Series than Audi do A4's, but i'd hazard a guess Audi sell more A3's than BMW sell 1 Series:)

A3 and A4 always been different platform

Depends whether UK or global, in the UK the A4 outsells the 3series

When you have the R8 as the brand halo, you rely less on model halo products such as the RS range to drive overall volume, but they will help enrich mix with Billy Bob Barry thinking his S-Line car is some sort of performance variant
