Ah, if it has the dynamic steering option then I guess this car reverted to its parking ratio (the steering ratio assigned when parking and slow speed manoeuvres) when the electro assist failed. I haven't seen Audi quote the range of the rack adjustment for dynamic steering (come to that, I haven't seen the standard rack ratio specified anywhere, either). Reverting to the parking ratio would make sense as it requires least effort when there is no electro-assistance.

Stevo55 I'm sure it will all be fine at least it's Audi and not a back street dealer. Hopefully the problems have been resolved. If you want to change the brushed ally I think harrier on here is selling a full set of carbon interior trim.

Thanks mate Audi reckon that to swap all the inserts will cost around £1800 which is pretty steep. It looks a lot better than I thought it would and am not sure if the carbon interior would look odd with the light grey seats and surrounds. I would normally go for black all round as per my C6 but the light colour looks pretty good.
As for taking the car on -the jury is still out and have spoken to a fair few people on and off this forum and elsewhere. Will keep all posted.

Stevo I like your level headed approach. Do your own homework, hear both sides of the story and draw your own conclusions. You are investing, not the forum (who you don't know from Adam). But don't ignore advice that there are lots of good cars out there if prepared to be patient - and this one will always have a story. I would avoid given the reaction it has prompted but, like most people on here, I know zip about the car other than what one person has said.

This is the last thing I'm going to say on the subject, I did not want to get rid of the car however every time I drove it I had a nagging doubt that it might go wrong, the last time it did - total brake failure which was an additional problem that it haven't mentioned previously but when I was rushing to get a train I was not impressed and it was recovered into Audi at Cambridge from my mothers house on an AA truck, this will or should be documented in the service records, or I have additional videos somewhere (I keep everything) Cambridge audi were told they had to buy back by AUK which they did for a paltry 52k or something, of course they are going to tell you it's fine if they are making 15k after putting it on their forecourt. Usually when something is too good to be true it usually is I have learned this over the years. If you can live with the risk of the issues that Audi U.K. are aware of as well as Cambridge Audi then you are a braver man than I. Abdullah at Audi UK was the case manager and also very aware of it.
My wife wouldn't get in it and I suspect if you family knew all of the issues they'd be saying you are nuts too.
I'm just dropping the log book off now so fill your boots.

Ok was curious about the symptoms (were you driving and what happened?) so I could go speak to Audi about it. Take it you had a dash cam as that's a pretty exact timing (0650)?

Yes I was driving, the car had a target blue eye, stinger VIP front and rear plus black vue front and rear dash cams all including the tracker have been removed, it was in traffic and the warning just came up, I coasted to the side of the a1 at letchworth and called aa who picked me up dropped me at my mothers and took car to Cambridge.

I'm baffled by this, I really am. OP puts a deposit down on a car he thinks is perfect, it is then discovered that the car has severe and potentially life threatening electrical problems. OP continues to try and find out more information about it as they are still interested in buying it.

It's a black RS6 for crying out loud, not a super-rare classic/vintage car. There's loads of them about and come to the market frequently.

Walk away and find another, for your own safety.
