Thanks guys.

I looked at the blue weave yesterday - see photo below:

Seemed too bright for me but I agree on a dull day it will be calmer.

I like the low rumble from the exhaust, it is just the pops which are a little Halfords for me (hence the fuel line clamp!).

Will go for a long drive today when the roads are dry, so far I think the MMI screen is very low-res compared to the Q7 but I think it was upgraded in MY17 to 8 inches from 7 so hopefully they upped the resolution too when they added Carplay.

This car has DRC which seems really comfortable in comfort, much more so than I remember my RS4, haven't tried it in dynamic yet.

The dynamic steering is poop, seems always too light so I won't be adding that.

The demo has HUD as does my Q7 and whilst expensive I am now pretty sure I will take it, it will pay for itself in speeding fine avoidance since this car goes so rapidly from 40 to 90 at least you can always have your eye on the speed.

Finally Sepang is too bright pretty sure I will go Daytonna like my old RS4, very classy and understated IMHO

Will probably order it tomorrow and hoping for a delivery in Sep/Oct as my dealer has an order locked in he can spec-change.

I'd be surprised if there was an additional fuel line for the pops; I thought it just threw an extra bit of fuel in on the wrong time of the cycle to make it pop, so possibly mapped out. However, it only really pops in Sport mode or Manual. Driving in Drive, even in dynamic, it doesn't pop even with the flaps open (mine are disconnected so permantenlty open regardless of modes) so you get more rumble but no pops. I'm not sure what the MMI option for engine sound actually does i.e. if I am in individual with everything set to dynamic except for engine sound and with the gearbox in sport mode does it just close the flaps but still pop, or are the flaps closed and no pops or do the flaps always open when Sport mode is selected regardless of MMI setting? I think it is the latter.

It's not a deal breaker and my 12 year old son loves it so won't stop me!

Yeh I was a bit taken a back with the low res of the screen on mine, pretty sure its no different on a MY17 either and not a patch on my BMW F15... But I think I can live with it!

I was worried i'd miss the HUD, but tbh with the map and speed limit displayed on the dash I'm not missing it at all. Again without wishing to blow too much some up BMW's pipes on an Audi forum it also lacks telephone and entertainment functions which is what I mainly what use it for. One dealer I chatted to also said its a bit of a bolt on and can rattle!

Suspension wise i'm on air, and considering I live in London I'm more than happy with it, better for the pot holes and sleeping policeman, and you can raise and lower just by hitting the switch. Stuff it in dynamic on the country roads and she feels great, sure springs will be that bit stiffer and more poised, but I'm not driving against the clock...

My two pennies worth.

With you on the silly exhaust. Rumble good, but not the artificial pops and bangs.

My three top options next time would be carbon pack, pano roof and parking camera.

I won't get a chance to try the air but honestly I was so amazed by how soft the DRC on this one is that I checked the tyre pressures.

Tried in dynamic and it firms up nicely (but then again I compare to the 911 so everything is soft).

I won't go carbon (too pricey) but will go roof and camera.

Will sort final spec tomorrow; think I will go HUD but agree it is a bit limited (Satnav directions, Cruise setting, Speed that's it).

If coming from a 911 then I think you will find air far too willowy.

I get to keep the 911 too ;-)

I will go DRC.

I will also go black leather seats and not take the blue stitch or alcantara it won't work as well with a grey car.

Just need to check ordering alcantara headlining won't delay car too much.

The blue stitch Alcantara really makes the interior for me. The normal leather seats look a bit dull to me now.

If alcantara looked new forever maybe it'd be Ok. But it wears, and then looks crap. Not keen on coloured contrast stitching, looks like it's trying too hard. Especially with family use. Alcantara headliner is a must, but it will add time.

Alcantara steering wheels wear and look horrible, but the seats less so. And they will match the door panels and thigh pads.

In terms of limited HUD - have you seen the RR SVR? £1700 and it just does your speed. Thats it !!
On Alcantara - I always thought you should get a discount if you get the Pano roof as there is much less to do !

Less fabric, more stitching.

I actually really like the alcantara with blue stitching; but alcantara is not as easy to keep clean with two teenagers jumping in and out. Black leather you just wipe with a damp cloth....

Also worried maybe the blue stitch gets a bit old in 3 years.

I've got a teenager and a 4 year old, no issues so far with mess. I had it treated with gtechniq fabric and leather protectors so should wipe clean too.
