However the only thing we can think of is, on the options list there is an option to remove tow bar preparation

my dad hasn't had this option.
@RSphantom and @Bamf out of a matter of interest. have you selected to remove tow bar prep?? this would probably explain

but if so still doesnt make any form of sense because its nothing to do with the change in diffuser itself
The black styling pack has no relevance to the removal of tow bar prep. I have DRC suspension which involves the removal of the tow bar prep as standard. The only other option that will remove the tow bar prep as standard is the carbon. So if your Dad's car is on Air suspension with no carbon then the tow bar prep wouldn't be removed unless requested I guess. However, forget the styling pack issue for a second, just look at all RS6's without any styling packs, they do not get a matt aluminium rear diffuser. The standard is gloss black so its still wrong. Just look at pages 29 or 63 on the brochure and you will see the standard non styling pack diffuser.

it definitely looks like they have fitted the wrong rear diffuser on your dads car. it defeats the whole object of going for the gloss black styling pack. I bet your dads not a happy bunny.

It does make you wonder how it got through quality checks and for them to come back and say they have 2 other cars spec'd gloss black with alu diffuser surrounds is a bit worrying. :audibash:

by the sounds of it, it's not just his car. Unless they are bullshitting....

Hopefully they'll swap it FOC and more importantly, hopefully the same doesn't happen to my car when it arrives.

Dad isn't happy at all, not my car and I'm not happy either, poor quality control. I think they maybe telling fibs just to try and get out of it but due to the custom my dad has given them over the years its now been ordered and changed without further questions FOC

@markwm - im make sure your car is exactly how it should be before leaving

That's good news, surprised they argued so much about it, I can't be the hardest nor most expensive part to change

Well guys to be honest the listers Stratford Audi don't tend to bullshit me as they think of me as a VIP customer. Ie I've had Goodwood tickets for free and have been invited twice for their RS spectacular days at Compton Verney art gallery and allowed to punish a few RS4/6/7 and R8s.
Back to my spec saver encouraged silver diffuser lip. People power Rules. Thanks to BAMF and RSPHANTOMS pictures which I included in a email this morning to Stratford Audi. They without argument ordered me a gloss black lip and will change it FOC when it arrives.
They also said that they sold another RS6 last week and again that one had silver lip. So god only knows what's going on.
I will say though I do believe them cause seriously speaking Stratford Audi and all the staff are an absolute ace team of people to deal with. I know the sales guy Nigel Spragg very well as well as the top tech guy Jack and even the Dealer principle Christian. If anyone needs a top dealer its Stratford all day.

I'm glad you've got it sorted. It does seem a bit odd how it got past quality checks. And not the only one either by the sounds of it.

I bet there was a bit of head scratching when you first noticed it was Ali instead of gloss black.

Not since you left!

How on earth can you pay [a lot of money] for black optics and Audi decide in their wisdom to start bolting silver diffusers on?! :audibash:

Or maybe just maybe Audi will start charging more for black optics PLUS rear diffuser in black just like they currently do for black optics PLUS mirrors in black..... (joke)
