Might sound daft but I'm sure the dealer will have a more thorough options list on the computer if not then whenever configurator is up. When I ordered the PFL going through spec on the computer and coming up where options that weren't in the brochure.

As of September, any changes in output by the addition of factory option wheels need to be accounted for on the V5. If the wheels push it back above the 225 limit into the higher tax bracket, Ill order with standard and then buy the others aftermarket to make the standard rims the winter wheels.
Exactly my thinking, too. there was a set of 21" rims (black) on German eBay last week for £2000. OK, you need some tyres but I would rather go that way than find I have up'ed my RFL to the next charging band by spec'ing the nice wheels at the factory.

The dealer will have the wheel CO2 data. I do have the S6 CO2 data in front of me: the shift from standard wheels (19") to optional wheels (20") raises the CO2 rating from 219 to 224, so it seems very likely that the 21" wheels will lift the RS6 back into band L as the 20" wheels already have it at 223.

On the other hand, fitting your own wheels will then become a mod in the eyes of the insurer, so it is pain all the way....

The other way Im looking at it is the car if I keep it for 4 years is £800 more than with the standard rims. Then cost to buy a set of standard rims with winter tyres? lets say £2k?

So all in £2800.

Now, standard rims come without winter tyres, so thats going to be about £1k for winter tyres, then another £2k to get the option wheels with summer tyres. So swings and roundabouts whichever way you look at it.

If the car is being delivered March (hopefully), then I shouldnt have need for winter tyres for six months, which gives me the time to find a set. If I do it the other way round, then Im looking for a set of the summer wheels straight after delivery, which is a pain.

As you say, insurance and aftermarket wheels is another matter - but that rears its head even if going the winter wheels option.

Well the brochure is now on the website. I just done a quick add up against my current car spec and the price is £2K more on the FL. Although to be fair I had to add parking pack advanced rather than top view so that does reduce the increase a bit.

Question - I know some of you guys have be given assurances around finance contributions etc. based on the figures that were being given in quarter 3 due to your non delivered cars but if you were looking to order a FL now without any assurances (i.e. new order as from now) there seems to be no finance contributions available on any of the A6 range. Now I'm guessing that this will change as from quarter 1 in 2015 when the first cars would arrive. However, don't you think it would be a bit risky to order not knowing if there will be a finance contribution available or if available, by how much? Or would you expect a bigger discount to make up for this? Just wondering as dependent on the finance contributions/discounts this could end up being a much dearer car than previous. Thoughts?

As I understand it there are still contributions at the same levels.

Paperwork signed today. The difference in cost between my pre-FL car and this one was £1250 when I had finished juggling options around.

My order paperwork has exactly the same figures other than the deposit I need to come up with on delivery day is £1250 higher.

Just a quick point for anyone going with the dynamic pack, you can now strip out the individual component of 174mph top speed. If you aren't ever wanting to go faster than 155, then ordering just the suspension and steering as separate items saves around £400.

No, I didn't I'm afraid. Dealer did not have that info.

Went for the 21" rims as I will probably keep the car around 4 years and will want a set of winter wheels. I'm working on a worst case scenario of the 21" rims pushing the level back up and costing me £800 more in tax over 4 years. Which the insurance company will probably bend me over for anyway if I went the other route and wanted to list them as an aftermarket addition.

If you ordered an RS6 on 20s (for winter) and then purchased OEM 21s for the summer, the cars is OEM as far as the insurance company are concerned. If you crashed your RS6 in 'summer mode', your RS6 will be wearing the same 21" wheels as every other RS6 out there surely?

(Thanks for the answer, Chesterfield)

You'd hope that an insurance company would be that pragmatic, but I wouldn't want to put it to the test.

After all, these are the same organisations that a couple of years ago were quoting 40% or more insurance premium hikes when owners phoned in to confirm it would be alright to fit winter tyres (fitted, ironically, of course, to reduce the possibility of having an accident in the winter months).

They are a weird bunch. I never knew until recently its actually cheaper to insure the car to be parked on the drive rather than in a garage. Strange but true.

Anyone paying their insurers extra to fit winters is mad! I've never paid a penny for it, although I did ask it was declared in writing on the paperwork every year on the S4

However, yes I do agree, it's the alloys you have to consider [if you are fitting a non standard wheel] rather than the tyres themselves

True, but I suspect some may think "what other box on the options list could I tick for that extra £200 a year.".

Its a useful item to have in the back pocket when she who must be obeyed questions what the point is in some trivial option I've added.. :bigblink:

Agree in one way, but (1) I will have the car for quite a few years, probably - maybe six or eight, so it adds up - and, as mentioned, that money could be Night Vision (maybe) and (2) it's £200 difference now, but give it a few years and it could be way more. High-emissions cars are only going to be hit harder and harder by cash-strapped governments.

You are right: in the grand scheme of things, it's peanuts - just a couple of tankfuls. But for some reason, RFL really rankles with me, and paying (maybe, in a few years' time) £700 per annum for a band L RFL would really hack me off.
