Well I’m 21 and I have way more passion for say an RS2 or a B5 RS4 then a B8 RS4. The new models are good cars no doubt, but just don’t do it for me the way the old ones do. The RS brand was better back then. Limited production so the models were rarer, the power was insane and they were only bought by people in the know, now the RS models are made in Hungary (not quattro GmbH) and have become way too mainstream and they lost their coolness for me in the process, still good cars, just not as special anymore. The Q3 RS will be the nail in the coffin for ‘RS exclusivity’ IMO.

I love the look of the new RS6 more than the new RS4 - is it just me or does it look so much more aggressive.

Now if I sold my granny I'm sure I could get a deposit together for one of these.....

+1 smack on Amar, such a wise head on such young shoulders. RS brand exclusivity has gone now and for me so has the appeal. Im in my last RS im afraid to say, these new ones lack any sex appeal, no fat wheel arches and arses anymore, far to common in all brands = 0 exclusivity.... I appreciate their tech, power output and build quality of course it is superb but it seems that there is a new one out every week, they dont have the same "special" ingredient as the earlier models had. Great for marketing, sales for Audi and the futures of the likes of Grizz & MRC I suppose. I always remember the TV advert for the C5 when it came out " The Beast" ..... superb.

In fact, I was wow'd by the B7 too, and it's hard not to be wowed by the C6 just because of that ridiculous engine. It's rarer then the C5 too so has that base covered.

It isn't just the 'RS' models that are ruining the exclusivity, it's the S Line A4/3 models which are sometimes mistaken for RS models.

I have a hankering for a big boy saloon so an S8 V10 or w12 will be needed to fill that then I expect Ill go all mid life and buy a Porker or something in a Maser variety. Sat behing a Vanquish S this afternoon desperate for it to overtake and get on with and when he did it took him about a minute to get round the Prius or what ever we were being held by.... The geezer clearly did not have a clue how to drive it.... but it did sound the muts so maybe I might have a little flutter on one of those in the future.

This is where we differ then. Those cars above do nothing for me at all (I do appreciate the heritage though). If we were all the same though life would be dull.

I do agree with your S line comment though. However proper enthusiasts like say you for older and me for newer models know when we see an S or RS model immediately.

Yeah, but there isn't a sense of occasion when you see a new RS anymore, it's like seing an E46 M3. Even the way they slap the 'TT RS' and 'Q3 RS' badge on the back seems like such an afterthought and doesn't flow.
Mev - You don't want a 6.0 W12, I drove and raced one and they feel slow, too slow to justify the ridiculous fuel costs IMO. My car crushed it three times.

Any 21 year old lusting after a rs6 or even rs4 should be shaken until sense sits in.

Trust me on this - you've loads of time to be limited to a 4 door cargo carrier.
Buy the lariest most impractical bonkers car possible. Once you 'need' a 4 seater it's damn hard going back!

Agreed. Wish I'd got that 2 door coupe bug out of my system... now I'm looking for wagons.
